CAIRO – Zamalek Club board member Ahmed Suleiman publicly questioned โขthe timing of Mahmoud Al-Khatib’s decision to step down as president of Al-Ahly, criticizing the announcement as disruptive to the club’s currentโค season.
speaking on the “Al-Laib” programโค on MBC Egypt, Suleiman stated that Al-Khatib should have delayed announcing his departure until after the Al-Ahly General Assembly scheduled โคfor September 19. He arguedโค the decision, made โon Friday, was ill-timed given the “great challenges” facing Al-Ahly in the coming period and should โขnot have occurred mid-season.
“The decisionโค should notโฃ take โขplace in the middle of the season or a difficult time,” Suleiman โคsaid, adding that Al-Ahlyโค is a “great club” and โคtheโฃ announcement could have beenโค handled differently.
Al-Khatib officially announced his departure from โthe Al-Ahly presidency earlier today, sparking speculation about potentialโ successors.
