Army Operation Nets Suspected Criminal Cell,โฃ Large Arsenal in Zacatecas
Jalpa, Zacatecas – A Mexican Army operation in theโ central streets of Jalpa, Zacatecas, โresulted in the arrest of five individuals suspected of belonging to a criminal cell and the seizure of aโค important cacheโข of weapons, drugs, and cash, the Secretariat of โNational Defense (Defense) announced today. The operation underscores ongoing efforts to combat organized crime in the stateโค of Zacatecas, a region increasingly โคimpacted by cartel violence.
The arrests and seizures, carried outโข during surveillance patrols and ground reconnaissance, represent a blow to criminal activity in the southeastern part of zacatecas.The recovered itemsโค – including โfirearms, grenades, and ample quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana – highlight the firepower atโ the disposal of these groups and โtheโฃ potential for escalating violence.โ Authorities are now working to determine the detainees’ connections and the cell’s broader โคoperational โฃnetwork.
According to a statement from the Fifthโ Military Region and the 11th Military Zone, based in Guadalupe, the โseized items included six firearms, โ1,522 cartridges ofโ various calibers, two grenade launcherโฃ attachments, six 40 millimeter caliber grenades, 952 doses of methamphetamine, 671 โขdoses of cocaine, 192 doses of marijuana, 636,700 pesos in โคcash, 12 cell phones, andโ threeโค vehicles. โข
The detainees and seized property have beenโค turnedโค over to the appropriate authorities for investigation and prosecution.
