ADAC Evaluates 78 Electric Vehicles for Families Under โฌ55,000
Munich, Germany – The German Automobile Club (ADAC) has assessed 78 electric vehicle models available on the market, focusing on suitability for families with a budget of up to โฌ55,000. The evaluation comes as demand for electric family cars rises, but consumers face a complex landscape of choices with varying ranges, space, and price points.
Finding the “ideal” family electric vehicle is proving elusive, according to ADAC’s findings. The organization’s assessment highlights the trade-offs consumers must consider – prioritizing price, space, or range – as battery costs continue to drive up the price of extended range capabilities. While performance was once the premium feature, extra kilometers of range now command a higher price for electric vehicles.
Among the options identified, the VW ID.7 Tourer stands out as one of the few electric estate cars currently available. For those needing a more compact option, the VW ID.3, priced from โฌ33,330, offers 385 liters of luggage space and a range suitable for smaller families. The most affordable choice is the Citroรซn E-C3 Aircross, starting at โฌ26,490,though it offers limited seating for only two passengers alongside a sizable suitcase. ล koda ENYAQ 60, with a 432 km range and 549-liter trunk, also presents a viable option. VW ID.4 and ID.5 combine space and range but exceed the โฌ40,000 price point.
ADAC also points to the opel Astra Sports Tourer Electric, Peugeot E-308 SW, and VW ID.7 Tourer Pro as interesting estate options, noting that the latter barely fits within the โฌ55,000 budget (โฌ95 over). The report emphasizes that consumers must define their priorities, as a single “ideal” electric family car does not exist.
