Yankees and Red Sox to Clash in Wild Card Series
NEW YORK – The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will face off in a highly anticipated American League Wild Card Series,begining at Yankee Stadium. The yankees secured the first wild card spot, granting them home-field advantage for the best-of-three series.
The Red Sox clinched their own wild card berth with a victory in their final regular season game, setting up the third postseason meeting between the rivals.
In the other American League Wild Card series, the Cleveland guardians will host the Detroit Tigers at Progressive Field. The Guardians claimed the division lead to earn the home-field advantage, completing a historic comeback to win the Central Division with Venezuelan player Brayan Rocchio contributing to the team’s success. The winner of the Guardians-Tigers series will then travel to T-Mobile Park to face the Seattle Mariners, who advanced directly to the Division Series with a 90-72 record.
Elsewhere in the Major leagues, the cincinnati Reds secured a postseason berth, and will play the Los Angeles Dodgers in a best-of-three Wild Card series. The Chicago Cubs will visit the San Diego Padres, with both teams vying for a spot in the Division Series against the Milwaukee Brewers, who finished the season with the best record in the major leagues at 97-65.
The MLB playoffs begin this Tuesday, launching the competition to determine the World Series champion.
