Diamondbacks‘ Tyler Locklear to Undergo Elbow and Shoulder Surgery
PHOENIX – โ Arizona Diamondbacks firstโ baseman โTyler Locklear will undergo surgery on both his left elbow and โคleft shoulder this month, aโฃ source confirmed Wednesday, following โa collisionโ at first base in september.
The injuries occurred โขduring the seventh inning of aโข game against the โขBoston Red โฃSox on Sept. 7, when Locklear โฃreached for an errant throw from third baseman Jordan Lawlar and collided with Red โคSox runner โคConnor โคWong. Locklear โฃsustained a torn โligament in his left โฃelbow โand requires a labrum repair in โคhisโ left shoulder. Both surgeriesโค willโข be performed by dr. Keith Meister on Oct. 16.
Locklear is expected to return โคat some point next season, tho the Diamondbacks currently lack a definitive recovery timeline due to โthe unusual nature of simultaneously addressing elbow andโค shoulderโฃ injuries.
Acquired from the Seattle Mariners in July as part of the eugenio Suarez trade, Locklear appeared in 31 games for Arizona, hittingโ .175/.267/.262 with three home runs and 43 strikeouts in 116 plate appearances. He was considered a โคpotential first base option for the 2026 season, alongsideโค Pavin โขSmithโ andโข others, but his recoveryโข timeline introduces uncertainty to those plans.
