Baltimore, MD – August 24,โ 2025 โ – Agnieszka Skalniak-Sรณjka of โHuman Powered Health secured a photo-finish victory at the 2025 Maryland Cycling Classic Women, edging out Krista Doebel-Hickok of EF Education-Cannondale in a thrillingโ sprint to the line. The โrace concluded after a challenging circuit โขaround Baltimore.
Earlier inโค the race, Henrietta Christie earned the overall mountains classification after repeatedly going clear, including a sustained effort alongsideโ Daniqueโข Hengeveld.Andrea cyr won the intermediate sprint on the โขbell lap.
Aโ breakaway group initially formed with Skalniak, Jackson, Langley, and Marta jaskulska, later joined โขby Emond. โNatalie Quinn attempted to bridge the gap but was unableโ to join โtheโค leading quintet.โ Jaskulska was the first to be dropped on the final climb, leaving Skalniak, Jackson, Langley, and Emond to contest the โคwin.
EFโ Education-Cannondale launched repeated attacks in the closing kilometers, with Emond and Jackson attempting to disrupt the lead group, but โคSkalniak and Langley consistently responded.โฃ Langley launched โฃa final attack before the kilometer mark, which Emond neutralized, setting up a tactical sprint. Skalniak initiated the โsprint,โข with โคJackson challengingโ in the final meters, but Skalniak held on forโ the win.”I’m so happyโค to finally get this first win ofโข the season,” Skalniak said. “Ther wereโค ups and downs this year, โbut โขwe rode so โขwell as a โฃteam.I even โคhad a flat tire โearlier, โand my โteammates waited for โขme. Inโ the final, EF were attacking me allโ the time,โฃ but โI kept believing in the sprint. โI’m really proud to take this victory.”
Jackson expressed disappointment with the result,โค stating, “It was a fair โand square sprint. I โคwas strong, but I hadโค a lot to manage with the moves. We rode aggressively, but I just couldn’t come past in the sprint.”
Emond acknowledged the team’s strategy, saying, “The main goal was to have numbers in theโ final, and we did that. โคWe tried to attack until the end, but it โdidn’t come off. We can still be proud ofโ how we raced.”
Langley, โwho played a key role in the earlyโ attacks,โค added, โฃ”I gave it everything out โคthere. To be part of the final four and to fightโข for the winโ here in โฃBaltimore is special.”
