Illinois Authorities Arrest Woman โAllegedlyโข Obstructing Search for Morgan Geyser,Former โค”Slender Man” Stabber
Illinois โpolice arrested a woman sunday night accused of obstructing efforts to โlocate Morgan Geyser, who was recently released from a mental โhealth facility adn subsequently went missing. Geyser, 30, was found safe in โขIllinois after a multi-state search.
Geyser was last โขseenโข around 8 p.m. Saturdayโ andโข wasโข reported missing nearly 12 hours later by the Madison Police Department.Authorities โwere alerted saturdayโ night whenโ the Wisconsin Department of Corrections received a malfunction alert from Geyser’s ankle monitor.the department contacted the Madison group home whereโ she resided and โlearned she had removed the โคbracelet and was not there.
Geyser and a โคfriend had been walkingโฃ toward โขChicago, approximatelyโข 170 miles south ofโ Madison, whenโข she injured her foot and they stopped. The friend, whose name has โnot been โreleased, was โtaken intoโ custody forโ obstruction. โPolice indicated Geyser would โฃlikely โฃbe โคreturned to the Winnebago Mental Health Institute following an extradition hearing.
Geyser was committed to the Winnebago Mental health Institute for 40 years in 2018 after being found guilty, but not criminally โresponsible โdue to mental illness, for her role in the 2014 stabbing of Payton Leutner.Geyser and Anissa weier, both 12 at the time, lured Leutner to โa Waukesha park andโข Geyserโข stabbed โher 19 times while Weier encouraged her. The girls told investigators they attacked Leutner toโ appease the fictionalโ character Slender Man,โ believingโข it would protect their families.
Weier was also committed to a mental health facility but was released in 2021 with โconditions,โ including GPS monitoring. Geyser โฃwas released fromโ custody earlier this โyear โafter experts testified she โhad made progress in addressing โฃher mental illness.
