Winter is one of the worst seasons of the year for people with hypothyroidism, as they feel uncomfortable due to the severity of their symptoms.

In this regard, Dr. Muhammad Al-Manisi, professor of Gastroenterology and Endocrinology at Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, said that hypothyroidism is a disease that gets worse in winter.
Al-Manisi explained that thyroid hormones are responsible for warming the body and providing energy and vitality in cold weather, so patients with inactivity deficiency feel cold in winter more than others.

The endocrinology professor added that hypothermia isn’t the only symptom that gets worse in winter in patients with hypothyroidism, explaining that there are symptoms that also become severe, including:

Tips for patients with hypothyroidism in winter
He stressed that the only way to avoid an increase in hypothyroidism symptoms in winter is for the patient to take the drugs on time, without prejudice to the doses prescribed by the doctor, to compensate for the lack of hormones.
