Montrรฉal โฃFestival Spotlights Risingโ Popularity of Georgian Wine
Georgian wines took center stage at La Grande Dรฉgustation de Montrรฉal, a leading wine and spirits festival held in the city, withโข support from the Georgian Embassy in Canada andโ the National Wine Agency of Georgia. Now in its 15th year, the festival attracts approximately 10,000 attendeesโข annually, includingโ wine professionals, journalists, and importers from around the globe, alongside wines fromโ canada, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Greece, Romania, and other โcountries.
Nine varieties of Georgian wine, already available in the Quebec and Ontario markets, were showcased,โ generating meaningful interest among festival-goers. Salome Kurasbediani, Chargรฉ โd’Affaires of โGeorgia in Canada, and other embassy โฃrepresentativesโค were inโ attendance.
The festival appearance comes as Georgian wine exports to Canada continue โขto climb. in 2024, nearly โข200,000 liters of Georgian wine were exported to Canada, a 16% increaseโฃ from the previous year, generatingโ USD 1.1 million in revenue-a 35% increase year-over-year. this positive trend continued through the first tenโฃ months โฃof 2025, with 193,000 liters exported,โฃ representing a 19% increase, โฃand revenue reachingโฃ GEL 1.2 million, a 32% increase from the same period in 2024.
