Windsor โResidents โคExpress Outrage as Prince Williamโ and Kate’sโ New Home Receives Increased Security Measures
Residents near Forestโ Lodgeโค in โWindsor โคGreat Park, Berkshire, are voicingโ frustration after learning public access to the area will be permanentlyโ blocked followingโ the Prince and Princess of Wales’ relocation. The move, enacted โunderโ the Seriousโ Organised Crime โฃand Police Actโ (SOCPA) 2005, designates the property as protected, effectively ending decades of public โenjoyment of the woodland.
Theโ decision to restrict access, which did not โrequireโ public consultation, has โคbeen met with dismay by locals who regularly use the area for recreation. โขThe โSOCPA 2005 law protects crownโฃ land andโ private land belonging โขto the King orโฃ the heir. โPlans now list โคForest Lodge as โขa “new residence” on private crown Estate land, withโ the new boundary agreed upon by Thames Valley Police โand theโฃ Royal Household.
Forest Lodge will become the โnew โฃhomeโ for william and Kate, relocating from their previous residence at Kensington Palace. The โdesignation change reflects โคthe property’s use as part of the wider Crown Land withinโข windsor, warrantingโฃ the same protection โฃafforded to other Crown properties under section 128 of theโค SOCPA 2005. Previously, the site was occupiedโ byโฃ non-protected tenants, negating โคthe need for such designation.
“The reason for the designation is that theโค site was previously in โuse by non-protected tenants, so the designation of land โขandโ property was โnot needed,” reads the official decision. “Byโข the relocation of โฃaโข protected principal residing at the Forest Lodge site, it reflects its โขuse as part of theโ wider Crown Land within Windsor andโฃ therefore โฃis appropriateโ to afford this site the same protection as other Crownโฃ properties designated under section 128 of the SOCPA 2005.”
Kensington Palace and the Home Office have been contacted for comment.
