Wierd Duk Disputes EO’s Account of On-Air Confrontation, Shares Invitation
Dutch podcast host Wierd Duk is challenging a statement released by broadcaster EO regarding a heated exchange that occurred during a recent talk show appearance. Duk alleges the network misrepresented the circumstances leading to his abrupt departure from the program, and has publicly shared an invitation to the broadcast as evidence.
The dispute centers around a conversation with journalist Ronit, during which duk claims he was unexpectedly criticized for the tone and content of his podcast. Specifically, Ronit accused Duk of disseminating “apocryphal stories” concerning Moerdijk – unverified accounts lacking official confirmation. Duk reportedly left the set, stating he “didn’t come here for this.”
EO initially stated that Duk had been informed in advance that Ronit would address his working methods during the broadcast. Though, Duk vehemently denies this claim. Responding on X (formerly Twitter), Duk posted a screenshot of the invitation he received from an EO editor. the invitation explicitly framed the discussion as a ”beautiful, extensive conversation about the defense of Christian culture,” and promised a “beautiful, reflective conversation” with Ronit.
“Okay, because you yourself have decided to spin it this way, here is – as an exception because I am really fed up with your character assassination – the app in question,” Duk wrote alongside the shared image. the post suggests Duk believes EO deliberately misrepresented the intended nature of the discussion.
The controversy has also drawn commentary from fellow media personality Mischa Blok, who sided with duk. In a post on X, blok described the on-air interaction as a “reprimanding” of Duk “as if he were a small child,” adding that it felt as though he wasn’t even present during the criticism. “This is not an open conversation between Ronit and Wierd, this is reprimanding someone as if he were a small child. And also talk about that person as if he is not there,” Blok stated.
The incident raises questions about the transparency and pre-agreed parameters of talk show appearances, and the potential for miscommunication between broadcasters and guests. EO has not yet issued a further response to Duk’s claims and the shared invitation.
