Israeli Orchestra Chief Ilan Volkov Urges Immediate Action to โHalt Gaza Conflict
Ilan Volkov, โคchief conductor of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, issued a stark warning aboutโ theโ escalating violence โฃin Gaza, โฃimploring international actors to intervene. “We can’t stop it alone. Please do everything you can, stop this nonsense. โฃEvery little step is very critically important,” Volkov โคstated. He โemphasized the urgency of the situation, warning, “The safety of millions of people is in danger.” Volkov criticized the hesitation of governments โฃand the โคdelays in responding, asserting that inactionโค “seriously endangers theirโ safety.”
The plea comes as the Israeli Armyโ continues attacks on gaza, initiatedโ on March 18th following a ceasefire that began on January 19th. Sinceโฃ October 7, 2023, israeli attacks have resultedโฃ in at โleast 64,871 Palestinian deaths and 164,610 injuries.As of March 18th, 12,321 Palestiniansโค have been killed and 52,569 injured in Gaza specifically.
Furthermore, 2,494 Palestinians have been โขkilled and 18,135 wounded in attacks targeting distribution zones within Gaza since May 27th, areas designated โขfor humanitarian aid overseen by the Israeli-US-guidedโ “Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation.”
Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has announced plans for a full occupation ofโ the Gaza Strip, โsignaling โan expansion of the ongoing military operation.
