A dog named Phoenix, rescued by the Nyíregyháza Animal Friendly Foundation, is recovering at an animal hospital after a veterinarian removed a cord from its hind foot. The paw was reportedly swollen.
Phoenix, a Husky, has been fitted with a large protective collar. According to the head of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county shelter, the dog’s aggressive behavior stems from past trauma, and it currently only tolerates human presence from behind a fence. An expert suggested the dog may have been intended for euthanasia. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.
