“Code Yellow Issued in Brabant as Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall Expected”

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com May 7, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Thunderstorms will occur in large parts of Brabant on Sunday afternoon. Because a lot of rain can fall locally in a short time, the KNMI has declared code yellow in our province, among others.

A lot of rain has already fallen in the area between Tilburg, Den Bosch and Eindhoven. The Eindhoven Kennedylaan can no longer drain the amount of water, photos show. Football matches in Veldhoven and Nuenen have been canceled due to the unplayable fields.

About 50 millimeters of rain can fall, expected Weather plaza. “Very local even more so.” According to the weather site, 20 millimeters fell in Eindhoven on Sunday afternoon.

Code yellow also applies in provinces such as South Holland, Limburg and Utrecht. The showers will disappear again on Sunday evening. The warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Sunday evening.

‘Get Ready to Get Soaked: Expect More Rain after Heavy Showers’

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 30, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

We’re going to have a few soaking wet days. It will rain heavily on Friday and Saturday. And where we now see the sun regularly, it will only be gray and gray in the coming days, says Roosmarijn Knol of Weerplaza.

Can I wear shorts already or will we skip spring this year? We all wonder that. But we still have to hold on. “A low-pressure area is heading our way, which will swirl in our area on Friday and Saturday,” says Knol. “All kinds of rain areas circle around it with lots of clouds and that will only go away on Sunday morning.”

Locally there can be up to forty millimeters of precipitation and there is a lot of cloud cover. With the cold it will be okay again. Due to mild air from France and Spain, it will be between 10 and 14 degrees on Friday and Saturday. There is a strong wind.

Files on Friday
The heavy rain could cause traffic jams on Friday. “And the rain on Saturday is especially annoying for everyone who is on the sports fields,” says Knol.

But after rain finally comes sunshine. Because from Sunday it will be dry and sunny. “Then it will be a bit colder due to a meager northern wind. But after those two rainy days, the sun will make up for a lot of people.”

Slipperiness expected due to snow and freezing, code yellow in almost the entire country

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com March 7, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

In Brabant and the rest of the country, except Zeeland, there is a chance of slipperiness on Tuesday evening and Wednesday due to snow, sleet and freezing of wet road sections. The KNMI has therefore issued code yellow.

With a lot of precipitation in the south of the country and temperatures dropping below freezing, the rain is increasingly turning into snow.

The snow will remain on Tuesday evening and form a sludge layer of a few centimeters. The snow remains most easily on lawns, cars and garden furniture.

Temperature around freezing point
In the evening the temperature drops to around freezing point or just below zero. Then the snow also stays down easier. Most snow can remain in the southeast.

The slipperiness is temporarily over on Wednesday afternoon, but in the night to Thursday it can become slippery again in the south of the country.

A few nice days ahead: ‘We can enjoy some vitamin D!’

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com February 7, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

After last week’s rain, we can enjoy a few beautiful, sunny days at the beginning of this week. “We can take some vitamin D,” Roosmarijn Knol of Weerplaza told Monday morning in the radio program ‘WAKKER!’ on Omroep Brabant.

During the day, the temperature will reach 5 or 6 degrees this Monday and the coming days, with a lot of sunshine. “But in the nights it is clear, there is little wind and then it can freeze a few degrees.”

“A southwesterly wind raises the temperature a bit further.”

The night from Tuesday to Wednesday in particular promises to be a cold one, Roosmarijn said. “Perhaps with moderate frost, a temperature below -5 degrees. Then there may also be some mist and fog, but in the morning it quickly disappears and the sun shines brightly.”

In the second part of the week, the weather changes slightly. “According to the weather maps, we will then get a slightly more south-westerly wind. That will cause the temperature to rise a bit further and then more cloud fields will come closer. Then the sun will have a bit more difficulty and then the frost will probably also disappear at night .”

A few nice days ahead: ‘We can absorb some vitamin D!’

Morning rush hour has little trouble with slipperiness, code orange withdrawn

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 26, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The KNMI has ended code orange for the province of Brabant. Traffic in the morning rush hour experienced few problems due to slipperiness.

Code orange applied to the provinces of Brabant, Limburg and Gelderland on Thursday morning, especially the southeast of the country. Rijkswaterstaat concluded around nine o’clock that slippery conditions caused few problems.

Last night there was precipitation with temperatures around freezing. That caused smoothness. Ice is therefore a layer of ice that is created by rain on a frozen surface. Once it is on the road, it is difficult to get rid of because it mixes poorly with road salt. Car windows were also provided with a layer of ice, so the day started with scratching for many road users.

Viaduct closed
A viaduct on the Westparallel near Dommelen was closed to traffic on Thursday morning because it turned out to be too slippery on the viaduct. Several accidents had happened in that place. Emergency services also found it difficult to do their work on the viaduct.

On some highways (including the A2 and A50) it was advised not to drive faster than fifty.
