Kulwut Wititsanโ falls Short in World Championship โFinal, Secures Historic Silver for Thailand
Paris, โFrance – August 31, 2025 – Thailand’s Kulwut Wititsan, ranked โขthird in theโค world, secured aโค silver medal atโ the 2025 Badminton Worldโ Championships in Paris โฃtoday, falling to world number โฃone Shi Yuqi of China in a hard-fought three-gameโ match. Despite a valiant effort, Wititsan was defeated 18-21 in the deciding game.
Theโข match beganโ with a stunning display from Wititsan, who surged to an 11-18 lead in the firstโ game before ultimately claiming it 21-19. โHowever, Shi โฃYuqi responded decisively in โthe second game, dominating with a score of 21-10, forcing a third adnโฃ final game.
The final game proved to be a closely contested โbattle, with both players demonstrating exceptional skill and determination. Ultimately, shiโ Yuqi prevailed, securing the championship title with aโฃ 21-18 victory.
Despite the loss,Wititsan’s performance marks a historic achievement for Thai badminton.โ Heโฃ becomes the first Thai player to reach โขthe World Championship final three consecutive times,โข having previously won a gold medal and secured another silver. This accomplishment has earned Wititsan โขa reward of 1 million baht โฃfrom the National Sports Development Fund.
This tournament also saw challenges for โฃother Thai athletes, with the โThai women’s team beingโข eliminated from the competitionโข after losses to Japanโ (0-3) โฃand theโฃ Netherlands (2-3).
