written by Priya Shah – Business Editor

China has launched an anti-dumping investigation into imports of US-made analogue integrated circuit (IC) chips, the Ministry⁣ of Commerce‍ announced Saturday.‌ The probe was initiated at the⁢ request of‍ the Jiangsu provincial semiconductor association, representing domestic industries impacted by the imports, and comes just before⁢ scheduled trade talks between Chinese and US delegations in Madrid, ‍Spain.

The investigation will focus on commodity interface IC chips and‍ gate drive IC ⁤chips, examining potential harm‌ to chinese industry between⁢ 2022 and 2024. ‍According to the ⁣Ministry of ⁢Commerce,‍ preliminary evidence suggests import volumes of the targeted US products rose 37% from‌ 2022 to 2024, while import⁢ prices fell 52% during the same period.

“This has ‌lowered ⁢and suppressed the⁤ sales prices of domestic products and caused damage to⁣ the production ⁣and operation of⁢ domestic industries,” the Ministry stated.⁣ The investigation will determine⁢ if these imports constitute dumping ⁤and are causing material injury to Chinese chip manufacturers.

Title: Trump Seeks 100% Tariffs on China, India Over Russia Oil Deal

by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor September 10, 2025
written by Lucas Fernandez – World Editor

Washington – U.S. President Donald ⁤Trump has called for the European Union ⁣to impose a 100% tariff on products from China and India, aiming to pressure those nations for their continued purchase⁢ of Russian oil and, ultimately, to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin. The request was made during a meeting with senior U.S. and EU officials in Washington on Tuesday.

According to a report by the Financial Times, cited by CNBC on Wednesday, the U.S. intends to implement similar tariffs on imports from India and china. This action follows a recent meeting between Trump and Putin in‍ Alaska last month, which yielded limited progress toward a ceasefire in ⁣Ukraine.

“There are‍ a ⁤lot of points that we agree on. I will say there ⁣are some‍ important⁤ points that we have not fully⁣ achieved, but we have made some‌ progress,” Trump stated following the meeting with Putin, offering no further details. The push for tariffs comes as Putin‌ appears to⁤ be strengthening‍ ties with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as evidenced by‌ their meeting at the Shanghai Cooperation Association in beijing last week.

The U.S. has ⁣already imposed a 25%⁣ import duty on Indian‌ purchases of Russian oil, bringing the total import ⁣duty to 50%.‌ China, however, has avoided “secondary” tariffs after reaching an ⁤agreement with Washington to reduce new levies on its products⁢ to 30%. ⁤

Simultaneously,Trump announced via X‌ (formerly Twitter) on tuesday night that trade negotiations with India continue in ⁣an effort‍ to resolve trade barriers.

Trump Considers Deploying National Guard to Chicago Amidst Crime Concerns

BREAKING: Trump Reiterates Plan to Deploy Forces⁤ to Chicago, Illinois Governor Condemns Move

CHICAGO, IL – September 2, 2024 – Former President Donald Trump ⁢on Monday once again voiced his intention to deploy U.S. forces to Chicago, despite repeated objections from Illinois Governor ⁢J.B. Pritzker and widespread⁢ public opposition. Trump claimed “we ⁣can do the same thing”‌ in Chicago as he did in Washington, D.C.,⁢ and‌ Los Angeles, stating, “we’ll fix chicago,” and that his management is “waiting for a call from Chicago.”

The renewed push comes as the Department of Homeland Security announced Monday the launch of an ⁣immigration enforcement operation⁢ in Chicago, targeting “the ⁢worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens.”

governor Pritzker sharply criticized the Trump administration’s approach, stating via a post on X (formerly Twitter), “This requires‌ support and coordination – yet we’ve experienced nothing like that over the past several weeks. Rather of taking steps to ‌work with us on public safety, the⁣ Trump administration’s focused on scaring Illinoisians.”

Pritzker’s office confirmed they have not received any “formal dialog or facts” from the Trump administration regarding potential troop deployments, according to spokesperson Matt Hill. “Like the public and press, we are learning of their operations through social media as they ‌attempt to ⁣produce a reality television show,” Hill saeid in an email. “If he cared about⁢ delivering real solutions for Illinois, then ⁤we would have heard from him.”

Trump’s comments echo⁤ previous statements regarding sending military forces to‌ Democratic-led cities. He has pointed‌ to deployments in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles as successes,⁢ claiming crime is “virtually nothing” in the⁤ nation’s ‌capital. However, a federal judge last week ruled similar deployments were illegal, asserting Trump was attempting to “creating a national police force with the President as its chief.”

During his remarks Monday, Trump downplayed instances of domestic violence,⁤ stating they are “much lesser things” that should not be factored into assessing the effectiveness of his crime-fighting efforts. “things that take place ‌in the home, they call crime. ⁣They’ll do anything‌ they can to find something,” he lamented. “If a man has a little fight with the wife, they say this was a crime. Now, I can’t claim 100%, but we are⁣ a safe city.”

A recent CBS/YouGov poll indicates that most ‌Americans oppose the idea of sending National Guard troops to cities, though the Republican base largely supports Trump’s initiative as a means to reduce crime.

Pritzker, in a social media post ‌Sunday, accused the Trump administration of trampling on citizens’ constitutional rights “in the ‍fake⁣ guise of fighting crime,” and questioned the potential consequences of‍ normalizing such actions.”Once Donald Trump gets the citizens of this nation cozy with the current ⁣atrocities committed under the colour of law – ⁣what comes next?” he asked.

Former Alaska Airlines Pilot pleads Guilty After ⁣In-Flight Engine Tampering Attempt

Portland, OR ⁢- A former Alaska Airlines pilot, Joseph Emerson, has pleaded guilty in state court to charges‍ stemming from a harrowing incident in ‍2023 ‍where he attempted to shut down the engines of a passenger flight mid-air. The flight, carrying⁤ 84 passengers and crew, ⁢was ⁢diverted from Everett, Washington, to San Francisco and safely⁤ landed ⁣in Portland, Oregon, after Emerson pulled a fire suppression system handle in the‍ cockpit.

Emerson’s guilty plea comes with a sentence of 50 days in ‌prison, including time already served, and a five-year probation period. He still faces federal sentencing ⁤in November, where his legal team is expected to request probation, while ⁤prosecutors may seek⁤ a prison⁢ sentence ‍of up to one year. The incident unfolded when Emerson, while piloting flight 2059, attempted to activate the engine fire suppression system, which⁢ would have cut off fuel⁤ to the ‌engines. ⁣A struggle ensued ‌with the co-pilot, lasting approximately 90 seconds, before emerson was subdued. According to court documents, Emerson then attempted to⁢ open an emergency ⁤exit door as the plane descended.

“What Joseph Emerson did was reckless, selfish, and criminal,” stated Multnomah County Deputy Attorney General Eric Pickard. “We must remember how close‌ he came to⁣ causing devastation, not only to the 84 people on board flight 2059, but to all ⁢of their loved ones.”

Emerson has admitted obligation for his‌ actions,⁤ stating, “It shouldn’t have happened, and I‌ am responsible for that.” He initially told authorities he was experiencing a mental health‌ crisis triggered by grief over the‍ recent death ⁢of
