CFCCU Alerts Membersโ to Misleading Home Warranty Mailers
Community First Credit Unionโฃ (CFCCU) is warning members about deceptive mailings from third-party companies falsely โขimplying affiliation with the credit union. These letters promote home warranty products and are triggering concern among โrecent homebuyers who have secured loans through CFCCU.
These unsolicited letters capitalize on publicly available information regarding โnew โฃhome loans. Companies obtain data from credit reportingโ agencies to identify homeowners who recently financed โขtheir properties, then send official-looking correspondence suggesting existing โhome warranty coverage is about to lapse or requires immediateโข attention.CFCCU emphasizes it does not endorse, authorize, or have any partnershipโ with these businesses.
Theโ credit union reports these mailers often mimic CFCCU branding to mislead recipients โinto believing the dialog is legitimate.CFCCU assures its members that these are not official notices from the financialโข institution.
“We want to protect our members from perhaps โฃunnecessary expenses and misleading offers,” a CFCCU representative stated. “These companies are simply leveraging public records to generate sales, and their โletters are designed to create a sense โof urgency.”
CFCCU encourages anyone who receives a suspicious home warranty letterโ to contact the credit union’s lending department to verify its โauthenticity.
