FLY – Ukrainian UN envoy Sergey Kislitsa tweeted an image of the United States (USA) flag with stars and stripes rendered in his country’s yellow and blue colors on Wednesday.

Though seen as an attempt to express US-Ukrainian solidarity, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova described it as a reflection of Kiev’s subordinate status in the report.

Kislitsa tweeted a photo from when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Washington on Wednesday.

The Ukrainian leader met with US President Joe Biden and delivered a speech before US lawmakers, calling for more support in the Kiev-Moscow conflict.

“They will stay together as long as necessary,” the tweet reads.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova reacted by calling it the “new flag of Ukraine”.

“The thing that we’ve been talking about for years, and nobody believed it, happened. Congratulations!” she said.

Moscow believes that the government that came to power after the 2014 armed coup in Kiev, as well as its successors, have bowed to Washington’s goals to the point of acting contrary to their own national interests.

“They said they could send the patriots there, well, we will destroy the patriots too,” Putin said, adding that sending it would only prolong the battle.

FLY – President Russia Vladimir Putin believes his side is not to blame for the war in Ukraine . According to him, the two countries “share a tragedy”.

During a televised address with senior military officials, the Russian president said he continued to see Ukraine as a “sister country”.

In February, President Putin sent up to 200,000 troops to Ukraine, sparking a war that has claimed thousands of lives. He said the conflict was “the result of third country policies”.

The theory, which implicates Western expansion as the cause, has been repeatedly rejected by those outside Russia.

In his speech, Putin said that the West has “brainwashed” post-Soviet republics, starting with Ukraine.

“For many years we have been trying to build good neighborly relations with Ukraine by offering loans and cheap energy, but without success,” he said. BBCThursday (22/12/2022).

President Putin’s long-standing concern appears to stem from NATO’s growth since the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.

NATO’s original goal was to challenge Russia’s post-World War II expansion, but the Kremlin has long argued that NATO accepted a former Soviet ally because membership in the military bloc threatened its security.

In his speech, President Putin continued: “There is nothing to accuse us of. We have always considered Ukrainians as brothers and I still do.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has warned that a shipment of American weapons to Ukraine would lead to an escalation of conflict in the war-torn country.

“The supply of weapons (by Washington) continues, the range of supplied weapons is expanding. All this, of course, leads to an aggravation of the conflict and, in fact, this does not bode well for Ukraine,” he Peskov told reporters. NewsweekThursday (22/12/2022).

Peskov responded to the question of whether the Kremlin expects negative consequences from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s visit to the United States on Wednesday local time.

It is the first time the Ukrainian leader has left the country since Putin launched his full-scale invasion on February 24.

The Kremlin spokesman said he believed nothing good would come of Zelensky’s trip, during which the United States would approve the delivery of the Patriot missile defense system, the most advanced surface-to-air missile the United States has supplied. to Ukraine.

The White House earlier said President Joe Biden would announce a significant new security assistance package to assist Kiev and demonstrated Washington’s firm commitment to support Ukraine for as long as needed.

The Kremlin has repeatedly accused the United States and other members of the NATO military alliance of getting involved in the conflict by sending weapons to Ukraine, providing training to its troops and assisting military intelligence.

Last month, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that Washington, along with its NATO allies, has provided more than $40 billion in military aid to Ukraine since the conflict began on February 24.

FLY – Russia will regard Greece’s plan to supply Ukraine with the S-300 air defense system previously obtained from Moscow as an “overtly hostile act”.

This was confirmed on Sunday (12/18/2022) by the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry (Kemlu), Maria Zakharova.

Greece has considered sending Soviet-era weapons to Kiev if the United States agrees to replace them with the MIM-104 Patriot system.

“It would be a serious violation of the … Russian-Greek agreement … on military and technical cooperation,” Zakharova said.

He added that the 1995 and 2013 agreements signed by Moscow and Athens in this area “explicitly prohibit Greece from re-exporting military equipment supplied by Russia without Moscow’s consent”.

“Trampling on its commitments under the agreement will certainly have consequences,” a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman warned.

“Such a move would also contradict the position of the majority of Greeks,” he said, adding that polls say 70 percent of Greeks are against “pumping Ukraine with weapons.”

Though Zakharova did not cite her sources, a poll by Greek broadcaster Mega TV in March showed that about two-thirds of Greeks oppose sending military equipment to Kiev.

This was announced by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Monday (12/19/2022). He thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin for delivering new weapons as promised by Moscow.

“Today we implemented the S-400 system and most importantly the Iskander system that you handed over to us, as promised six months ago,” Lukashenko told Putin at a joint news conference in Minsk.

During their press appearance, Putin revealed that the two countries have built an integrated air defense and warning system, of which the S-400 battery is an important element.

“The Belarusian pilot will soon receive training in the use of special weapons and special ammunition,” Putin said and Lukashenko confirmed.

“I must say that we have prepared the plane. As it turned out, we have had such an aircraft since Soviet times, we have already tested it in the Russian Federation.
