North Wales – A North Wales man has died afterโ collapsing in his bathroom forโข four days before police were called to check on his welfare. Mark, whose surname โขhas not been released, passed away in โseptember 2024 โฃsurrounded by lovedโข ones โฃat โคhome. His widow, Rosalind, is now fundraising for Brainโข Tumour Research in his memory.
Mark had been diagnosed with a brain tumour โฃand was โขa keen runner in his younger days. His funeral reflected his passion for motorcycles, with his coffin transported on a motorcycle hearse, followed โby over 100 โฃbikers โคfrom across the community.
Rosalind is taking part in Brain Tumour Research’s 99 miles in โNovember challenge to raise crucial funds for researchโ into the disease.Brain tumours are the leading cause of death in children and adults under 40, โขand more men under 75 than prostate cancer, โyet only one per cent of national cancer research funding is allocated to this disease.
The 99 miles in November challenge encourages participants to walk, run, cycle, โswim, or clock up miles in the gym,โค at thier own pace.
“I’m โคwalking 99 miles โthis November for โMarkโ and forโ everyone affected by this โcruel disease,” โRosalind said.”research is the only way we’ll stop others from going through what we did. I’ve already raisedโ over ยฃ300, โand โคI’ll be walking every step for him.”
Brain Tumour Research provides long-term funding to dedicated Brain Tumourโข Research centres of excellence atโ key academic institutions.
Letty Greenfield, community progress manager at โฃBrain Tumourโค Research, said: โ”Mark’s story isโ a heartbreaking reminder of how brutal brain tumours โคcan โขbe. Rosalind’s strength and courage in sharing โtheir experience is truly inspiring, and everyโ mileโฃ she walks helps usโ moveโข closer to finding a cure. We hope his story inspires others to take on the challenge.”
