Trump Suggests โUkraine Can โPrevail with EU & NATO support, โShifts Tone on Russia
Donald Trump stated in New Yorkโ that โhe believes Ukraine can regain its territory with the supportโ of the โฃEuropean unionโฃ and NATO, after assessing the military and โขeconomic realities of โขthe conflict.โข “After โgetting โto knowโฃ and fully understood the Ukrainian-Russianโ military and economic situation and I saw โฃhow much economicโฃ problem it is for Russia, I think Ukraine can fight with the European Union and regain all Ukraineโ in its original form,” Trump saeid.
This marks a important departure โfrom Trump’s recent statements. Heโค questioned on his Truth Social account, “Over time, patience,โ europe,โค and in particular NATO โฃfinancial support, it is possible to achieve valid โlimits atโข the beginning of โwar. โฃwhy not?”
The shift follows a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on โคTuesday. Inโ February, during โขa White House visit from Zelensky, reports indicated Trump told the Ukrainian leader he had “no racket cards” and was โ”playing with the Third World War.”
Trump asserted Russia has been engaged in theโฃ war for three and a half โขyears, andโค that โa genuinely powerful military would have secured victory โขwithin a week.he characterized Russia as โขa “paper tiger,” adding, “Putin and Russia are economicallyโ inโฃ great trouble, it’s โคtime โฃfor Ukraine.”
He acknowledged his previous belief that โhisโฃ relationship โwith Putin could facilitate a fast resolution, but โคstated that relationship “sadly did not mean anything.” During a jointโ press conference, discussion occurred regarding potential โNATO intervention – specifically, shooting down Russian aircraft violating federation airspace, with possible US participation, though Trump noted this would โdepend on the circumstances.
According to Zelensky, โTrump indicated aโค willingness to provide security guarantees to Ukraine once โขthe war concludes.
