MTV VMAs 2025: Doja Cat Debuts New Music,J Balvin Continues Collaborative Tradition
NEWARK,NJ – The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards saw Doja Cat deliver the live premiere of “Jealous Type,” the lead single from her upcoming album Vie,in a performance steeped in 1980s aesthetics. The show also highlighted J Balvin’s penchant for collaboration, featuring a performance of his new track “Zun Zun” with Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez, followed by the first-ever live rendition of his single with DJ Snake, “Noventa.”
The VMAs have long served as a launchpad for artists to connect with audiences and showcase new material,and this year’s performances continued that tradition.Doja Cat, a frequent performer at the VMAs, previously captivated audiences with her aerial performance of “Been Like This” and “You Right” in 2021, and a medley of scarlet singles – “Attention,” “Paint the Town Red,” and “Demons” – in 2023. J Balvin, a thirteen-time VMA nominee, has consistently utilized the platform to amplify his music and spotlight fellow artists.
Balvin’s collaborative spirit was on full display, building on past VMA appearances where he shared the stage with Bad Bunny in 2019 and ryan castro in 2022. The performance of “Zun Zun” with Quiles and Tavárez, and “Noventa” with DJ Snake, underscored his commitment to cross-genre partnerships within the Latin music scene.
