Vincennes RDC Advances Housing Rehabilitation Program withโ Agreement Approval
VINCENNES, IN – The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission (RDC) tookโ a significant step toward addressing local โคhousing needs Thursday by approving a professional services agreementโ and outlining details for a new โHousing Rehabilitation Program position. The move paves โคthe โขway for the program’s launch and the revitalization of properties within the city.
The program, spearheaded by RDC members Steve Blinn and Marc McNeece, aims to acquire, develop, โand rehabilitate housing stock in Vincennes. Modeled โคafter a similar initiative in Pittsboro, the 12-month position will require close collaboration with the RDC, city engineer, and โcity inspector,โ going beyond customary contracting work.โข the initiative responds โto a growing need for improved housing options โคand aims to โขstimulate โคinvestment in the community.
Blinn presented the drafted agreement to the board, detailing applicant requirements โขand โขprogram commitments. He noted preliminary interest from three potential candidates, with a formal requestโข periodโฃ expected to openโ following the agreement’s approval.โค The process will include interviews and background checks.
“We’ve got โit to a point where โwe need to move forward,” Blinn stated during the meeting, afterward โคmotioning for the board’s approval.
The RDC unanimously approved the professional services agreement, with Tim Smith absent. Applications forโ the Housing Rehabilitation Program position will be accepted for a period ofโค two weeks.
The next RDC meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m.on Octoberโ 16 at โคCity Hall.
