CNBC Plans International Staffโ Reductions Amid โคRestructuring
LONDON – CNBC is initiating a consultation period thatโฃ could lead to the โreduction of up to two dozen positions within its international operations, based in London and Singapore, and across other global offices. The potential โฃdownsizing impacts roles within the network’s โคdigital editorialโฃ teams.
the move comes โas CNBC prepares to be spun โคoff from NBCUniversal into aโฃ new, standalone companyโ calledโค Versant in the coming months. While CNBC maintains the restructuring is not directly linked to the separation – Versant โis actively seeking to fill โapproximately 750 positions across โขits networks -โ the cutsโค reflect a broader effort toโข align theโ institution with long-term strategic โขpriorities.
“we are currently consulting on proposed changes to the organizational structure of the international team to ensure we are โฃbest positioned to deliver โขonโ our long-term strategic priorities,” a โCNBC โspokesperson stated. “As this process is ongoing, we are unable to provide further details at this time.”
The planned reductions are โขsubjectโ to British labor laws, requiring a consultation period before any layoffs can be finalized. This restructuring follows the appointment of โDeep Bagchee as President of CNBC International in โค2024, succeeding John Casey who stepped down after nearly three decades with the network. prior โขto joining CNBC, Bagchee served as Chief โคProduct Officer of ITV, whereโค he played aโข key role in the launch of โthe free streaming service ITVX.
