Šimon Nemec Drops in NHL Fantasy Rankings: Full Breakdown

Slovak defenseman Šimon Nemec is no longer the Slovak representative in the ranking of the 200 best NHL players from the point of view of fantasy play, which is published by the official website of the NHL.

The nineteen-year-old native of Liptovský Mikuláš dropped out of the ranking, in which he occupied 183rd place just last week.

It is headed by Connor McDavid, Nikita Kučerov, Nathan MacKinnon, David Pastrňák, Jack Hughes, Leon Draisaitl, William Nylander, Quinn Hughes, Elias Pettersson and Artemij Panarin.

The German also fell in the Top 50 defenders ranking, in which he took 36th place last week. Now it is in the 47th position. Leading the way are Quinn Hughes, Cale Makar, Adam Fox, Evan Bouchard, Ramus Dahlin, Roman Josi, Noah Dobson, Josh Morrissey, Moritz Seider and Victor Hedman.

The German is not among the Top 10 rookies, but he is among five rookies worth considering. Otherwise, Connor Bedard, Luke Hughes, Joseph Woll, Piotr Kočetkov, Logan Cooley, Brock Faber, Adam Fantilli, Devon Levi, Tyson Foerster and Dmitry Voronkov made the list.

The German played 10 games this season, recording four points per goal and three assists. He also scored two penalty minutes and five minus points.

Vancouver Canucks Acquire Nick Cicek and Fourth-Round Draft Pick from San Jose Sharks

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com December 16, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The Vancouver Canucks acquired defenseman Nick Cicek and a fourth-round draft pick from the San Jose Sharks on Friday in exchange for forward Jack Studnick.

We recommend:
Will his suffering end? Tomáš Tatar was replaced!

Cicek played 18 games in the lower AHL this season, registering a goal and two assists. At the age of 23, he has played 16 NHL games with four assists.

A year older, Studnicka played five duels with one goal for the first team this season. In Abbotsford, he added nine duels in which he recorded a goal and six assists. He played a total of 90 games in the NHL with 16 points (6+10). He also played for Boston, who drafted him 53rd overall in 2017.

The Rise of Jiri Patera: From Standby Goalie to NHL Success with the Vegas Golden Knights

The Rise of Jiri Patera: From Standby Goalie to NHL Success with the Vegas Golden Knights

Not even Patera has prevented the great discipline of the Sharks recently, who are gaining points with powerful final attacks. They went from 1:4 to 5:4 in overtime with the Islanders, from 0:4 to 6:5 in overtime in Detroit and this time in the last 4 minutes they made up a two-goal deficit (2:4). Tomáš Hertl invited Mike Hoffman, who equalized 39 seconds before the end of regular time.

“I envisioned a little better play in front of our goal, but it was our fourth game in six days,” apologized Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy.

Patera received an invitation to the first team already on December 2 due to the health problems of this year’s playoff hero Adin Hill. However, Logan Thompson had the upper hand between the posts. “The day before, Logan was catching in Dallas, so now Jiří got a chance,” explained Cassidy.

The 24-year-old goalie played two games for the Golden Knights last season, which ended with Vegas going all the way to the Stanley Cup. The reigning champions also started the new season very well. They lead the overall table with 43 points. Patera is also signed, although the duel with San Jose started unluckily for him with a conceded goal from the first shot by Mario Ferrara in the 29th second.

“Tough start, but he did a good job. You never know in the first game, although he had two starts last year and tried it out a little bit,” the coach said. However, neither Kevin Labanc nor Mikael Granlund matured in the raids against the Czech goalkeeper, whose backhand bluff between the concretes was expertly guarded by Patera.

The native of Prague played 14 games for the farm team Henderson Silver Knights this season. He has a record of 6-6-2 with an average of 3.17 goals per game. He has faced the second most shots in the AHL so far (441). With 834 minutes caught, he remains in the top five.

“Everyone is fighting hard, but especially Jiří keeps us going, he is amazing. We are trying to improve and help him more,” Silver Knights forward Mason Morelli said to the former star.

Patera was Vegas’ third “standby” goaltender during the playoffs. “I don’t want to go anywhere else. I’d love to continue and play right here,” he said during the Stanley Cup celebrations and inked a new one-year deal with the Golden Knights in early July. Now he believes in more opportunities to defend the goal of the best NHL team.

NHL Recap: Edmonton & Vegas Victorious, Anaheim & San Jose Endure Losses

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com December 11, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Czech hockey forward Ondřej Palát assisted on New Jersey’s only goal in a 1:4 loss on the ice of Edmonton. Defender Radko Gudas set up one of Anaheim’s goals in Sunday’s program. The Czech tough guy’s eighth point in the season did not help the Ducks win. The Ducks lost 2:4 in the home duel with Winnipeg.

Tomáš Hertl and Filip Zadina’s recordings did not lead to victory either. Their San Jose lost to Vegas with Jiří Patera in the goal 4:5 after separate raids.

In Edmonton, two teams with excellent form met each other. The Devils entered the match with three wins in a row, the Oilers even won six times in a row. And it was the home hockey players who were aiming for another two-point gain from the start. Connor Brown’s opening goal was called off by the video referee after the coach’s challenge. Derek Ryan’s shot from the end of the first period was no longer contested and the Oilers went to the cabins with a narrow lead.

Evan Bouchard made it 2-0 in the second period, and Connor McDavid added a third hit at the beginning of the third period. The star Canadian forward scored in his ninth straight game and moved into eighth place in the league in scoring. Defender Bouchard entered the statistics even for the eleventh time in a row and with 28 points he is the third most productive back in the NHL.

“Bouchard is in incredible shape. He plays great offense and defense and has been a big part of our winning streak. It’s fun to go on the ice and know we’re going to do well. It’s great that we’re consistent,” praised Oilers defenseman Vincent Desharnais.

Thirty seconds after McDavid’s hit to make it 3-0, the New Jersey hockey players were able to reduce the score. After the event, in which Palát also participated, Jesper Bratt scored a contact goal. The Devils tried their luck with six players on the field with more than four minutes to go, but their risk didn’t work out. Evander Kane hit the open goal, which closed the score at the final 4:1.

The first goal in the match between Anaheim and Winnipeg took until the 37th minute, when Ducks forward Alexander Killorn opened the scoring on a power play. After 75 seconds of the third part, the home team made it 2:0. After the quick action of Radek Gudas and Jakob Silfverberg, the puck reached Adam Henrique and he shot past goalkeeper Connor Hellebuyck for the second time.

After the second conceded goal, the Jets players took over the reins of the match. Nino Niederreiter reduced the score to 1:2, Morgan Barron scored the equalizing goal in the 46th minute, and Gabriel Vilardi completed the turnaround at 58:18. Mark Scheifele gave the final form of the result with a shot into the empty goal.

Anaheim lost 11 of its last 12 games and fell to 14th in the Western Conference during the streak. “It’s bad. We lost a game that we should have won again. Even with the bad results in the last few games, we have to stay positive and we have to build on the good things. It has to turn around at some point,” Anaheim coach Greg Cronin said.

San Jose has won the last two games after big turnovers in the final minutes and has prepared a similar scenario for the duel against Vegas. The Sharks erased a two-goal deficit in the last four minutes and sent the game into overtime at 4-4. The goal was not scored in that, so the raids had to decide. In the shootout, the home Golden Knights were happier, winning for the third time in a row.

San Jose’s point was also helped by the Czech forwards Zadin and Hertl, who each assisted once. The Vegas victory was picked up by goalkeeper Patera. In his first game of the season and third in the NHL, the 24-year-old native of Prague covered 35 shots and caught with a success rate reaching 90 percent. In the final raids, the Czech goalkeeper did not concede even once.

Although he did not play in the evening game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Seattle Kraken called up Slovakian forward Marián Studenič from Coachella Valley from the lower AHL on Saturday.

Studenič was called up a day after the NHL’s youngest team placed forward Andre Burakovsky on the injured list. This is his second job in less than two weeks.

Twenty-five-year-old Záhorák played two games in this NHL season with a minus point and two penalty minutes. He played 17 games on the “farm”, in which he scored seven goals and added five assists. The last time he enjoyed a goal was on Friday.
