Pope Leo XIV’s Upcoming Trips to Türkiye & Lebanon Detailed with Program & Logos
VATICAN CITY – The Holy See Press Office released details today, October 27th, outlining the program and symbolic logos for Pope Leo XIV’s upcoming Apostolic Journeys to Türkiye and Lebanon. the trips, focused on interfaith dialog, peace, and solidarity, are marked by distinct visual identities and a packed schedule of meetings and addresses.
Lebanon Visit – December 1st-2nd:
Pope Leo XIV will arrive in Lebanon on Sunday, November 30th, and begin a full schedule on December 1st. Key events include a visit and prayer at the tomb of Saint Charbel Makluf in Annaya at 9:45 am, followed by a meeting with bishops, priests, consecrated individuals, and pastoral workers at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lebanon in Harissa at 11:20 am, where he will deliver a speech. A private meeting with Catholic Patriarchs is scheduled for 12:30 pm at the Apostolic Nunciature,and an Ecumenical and Interreligious meeting will take place at 4:00 pm in Martyrs’ Square,Beirut,culminating in another address by the Pope. The day concludes with a meeting with young peopel at 5:45 pm in front of the Patriarchate of Antioch of the Maronites in Bkerké, also featuring a papal speech.
On December 2nd, the Pope will visit the staff and patients of the “De La Croix” hospital in Jal ed Dib at 8:30 am, offering a greeting. He will then offer a silent prayer at the site of the Beirut port explosion at 9:30 am, followed by a Holy Mass and homily at the “Beirut Waterfront” at 10:30 am. A farewell ceremony, including a final speech from the Holy Father, is planned for 12:45 pm at Beirut international Airport, with departure scheduled for 1:15 pm, arriving at Rome/Fiumicino International Airport around 4:10 pm.
The logo for the Lebanon trip depicts Pope Leo XIV with his right hand raised in blessing, alongside a dove symbolizing peace and a cedar tree representing Lebanon’s history and interreligious harmony. The “Anchor Cross” of the Jubilee of 2025 is also featured. The colors – dark blue, light pink, green, and blue – represent serenity, unified by white, symbolizing Lebanon’s aspiration for peace. The motto for the lebanon visit is “Blessed are those who promote peace,” taken from the Gospel of Matthew.
Türkiye Visit – Details Pending:
While the full program for the Türkiye leg of the journey wasn’t released today, the accompanying logo was unveiled. It features a circle surrounding the Dardanelles Bridge, representing the connection between Asia and europe, and Christ as the bridge between God and humanity. Waves beneath the bridge symbolize baptismal water and Lake Iznik, while the jubilee Cross of 2025 appears on the right and three interlocking circles represent the Holy Trinity on the top left. The logo visually embodies the journey’s motto: “One Lord, one faith, one baptism” (Ephesians 4:5), with the circle representing God’s unity, the bridge symbolizing unifying faith, and the waves representing regenerative baptism.
