He stressed that the vaccination will begin in the middle of this month and that the doses have already been secured by the state Ministry of Health.
“About 17,000 or 16,000, more or less, need to be covered, because there are more than 13,250 detainees, plus all custodial and security personnel, plus administrative, operational and legal personnel.”
He also stressed that progress has also been made in the implementation of the flu vaccine and that there have already been two rehabilitation centers where vaccination days have been carried out.
The intention, the state official explained, is to achieve 100% coverage against both diseases, which can form a combined infection.
According to Andrade Ramírez, not a single case of Covid-19 has been reported in the prison system so far.
