The vaccination plan with Patria fails; is not ready | The universal

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com November 17, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the director of National Council of Humanities, Sciences and Technologies (Conahcyt), María Elena Álvarez-Buyllathey committed that the Mexican Patria vaccine would begin to be produced starting in September and would even be applied starting last month in the national anti-Covid-19 campaign; However, the biological is not yet ready.

Currently, the Conahcyt It does not have data on the production of the 4 million doses or the effectiveness of the Patria vaccine, despite being in charge of articulating the strategy and the fact that President López Obrador stated on October 25: “We are going to have it this year”to be used in the national vaccination campaign.

In response to a request regarding monthly vaccine production anti-Covid developed by the federal government, Deputy Directorate of Technological DevelopmentLinkage and Innovation of Conahcyt assured that “it does not have the requested information”, which also contradicts what was declared on May 3, 2023 by María Elena Alvarez-Buylladirector of the Council, stating that “from September to December there would be the installed capacity in the country to produce up to 4 million vaccines.”

Conahcyt prepared the response to the query made by THE UNIVERSAL last November 1 and it arrived only on the 13th of this same month, which shows that two and a half months after it should have started producing the vaccine There is still no evidence of the process.

It also does not have the reports final technical of the project, despite the fact that Álvarez-Buylla maintained the opposite on May 3 in the conference press release of President López Obrador.

“It is now ready as reinforcement in all its phases. The results are already available that show that the vaccine meets the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO), both in terms of security and in its protective capacity,” he said. However, the Deputy Directorate of Technological Development, Bonding and Innovation contradicted the official, since when questioned about the effectiveness of Patria to protect against the XBB 1.16 or EG.5.1 variants, she acknowledged that she still does not have the reports final technical of the vaccine.

“This address will have information once the final technical reports of the project corresponding to the development of the Patria vaccine are received,” Conahcyt specified in response to this newspaper’s request for information.

He also confirmed the allegations that question the effectiveness of the Patria vaccine due to the lack of definitive results from its clinical development, as he noted that “the Patria® vaccine project (AVX/COVID-12) against the SARS-CoV-2 virus is currently a booster vaccine, in terms of what is indicated by the Laboratory company Avi-Mex”.

But when consulting the company’s terms on its portal electronicthis points out that the security of the Homeland vaccine “It will continue to be monitored in accordance with the investigation protocol that is still underway for these purposes.”

On April 17, THE UNIVERSAL published the note “Homeland, the vaccine that never arrived”, in which it indicated that the biological would be surpassed by the health emergency declared by the OMSsince it was imminent for the international organization to declare its completionwhich happened on May 5.

The cost of developing the productobtained through a request for information, which from 2020 to April 2023 was 422 million 897 thousand 939 pesos, according to the Conahcyt.

Later, on May 3, Álvarez-Buylla updated the investment to produce the vaccine and assured that 937 million pesos were allocated by the federal government.

Patria, without verifying effectiveness against XBB.1.16 and EG.5.1 “Eris”

The subvariants XBB.1.16 and EG.5.1 “Eris” were the ones that spread the most speed and dominated the cases during the last wave of infections of Covid-19 in Mexico, according to WHO data.

Thus, THE UNIVERSAL consulted Conahcyt about the effectiveness of the Patria vaccine to protect against these virus mutations; However, the agency does not have the Clinical studies that endorse the president’s statements Lopez Obrador and the director Álvarez-Buylla.

In the case of highlights of the coronavirus variant ómicron XBB.1.16, the WHO classified it as fast growing and a new variant of concern, after stating that it surpassed the XBB.1.5 variant, previously the main one in many regions.

On the other hand, on September 26, the platform GISAID (Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data) indicated that EG.5.1 “Eris” is propagated throughout the country, and became the dominant variant of Covid-19.

Flu Vaccination Campaign in Valencia: Nearly 400,000 Doses Administered

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com November 5, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

VALENCIA (EP). The Ministry of Health has administered nearly 400,000 doses of flu vaccines since the vaccination campaign began in the 2023-2024 season on October 16.

Specifically, there have been a total of 399,514 doses administered until November 2. If compared to the same period of the previous year, in which 330,178 doses were administered, there has been an increase of 21%.

By province, 38,771 doses have been administered in Castellón, 149,423 doses in Alicante and in Valencia 211,320 doses.

The Minister of Health, Marciano Gomezdespite the good results obtained so far, has encouraged “people at greater risk of developing complications from previous diseases to be vaccinated, as well as health workers and other groups of patients such as minors, to protect both their health and that of the people around them.

By risk groups, More than half of the doses have been administered to people with chronic cardiovascular and respiratory diseases (207,146 doses); and another 49,144 doses to immunosuppressed people, diabetics, people with kidney and neurological diseases.

For its part, People over 60 years of age in no other risk group have been immunized with 62,106 doses and health and social health workers have received 26,262 doses. The vaccination coverage achieved in healthcare personnel and those over 64 years of age in these two weeks is 32.02% and 22.50%, respectively.

Regarding children under five years of age without risk pathology, one of the new features of this season’s campaign, more than 17,000 doses have been administered in these first two weeks. Specifically, there have been 7,060 doses inoculated to babies from 6 months to 2 years old and 10,228 doses administered with the intranasal vaccine to boys and girls from 2 to 4 years old.

In this sense, the regional administration recalls that this year the flu vaccination campaign includes the administration of the vaccine among Valencians over 60 years of age, instead of the 65 years that were established until now.

Another novelty is that it includes healthy children under five years of age (between 6 and 59 months) without pathologyin order to immunize the greatest number of citizens and prevent infections, and the intranasal vaccine for 2 to 4 years, which offers greater protection against influenza virus infection, is easier to administer and less aggressive in preventing the puncture.

It is also planned to vaccinate against influenza for people between 5 and 59 years of age who have a higher risk of complications derived from influenza, such as: people between 5 and 18 years of age who receive long-term treatment with acetylsalicylic acid, due to the risk of developing Reye syndrome; people with direct occupational exposure to animals or their secretions on poultry, swine or mink farms or farms or to wildlife (birds, wild boars or mustelids); and smokers.

Vaccination against covid-19

Regarding vaccination against covid-19, 310,116 doses have already been administered. By province, the data is as follows: 32,808 in Castellón, 118,355 in Alicante and 158,953 in Valencia.

Of the total number of vaccinated people, by risk groups, the immunization of 274,870 people over 60 years of age, 18,522 health and/or social health workers and 11,327 people residing in closed institutions stands out.

Joint vaccination

The administration of joint vaccination against flu and covid is recommended for people aged 60 years or older, as well as people aged 5 years or older cared for in centers for functional diversity and other long-term institutionalized people and residents in closed institutions. .

Likewise, joint administration is also recommended for people under 60 years of age with risk pathologies; pregnant women in any trimester of pregnancy and women during the postpartum period; people living with those who have a high degree of immunosuppression; staff of public and private health and social health centers and establishments; and professionals who work in essential public services (State Security Forces and Corps, firefighters, civil protection and personnel who work in health emergency services).

Prioritization Vaccination will be prioritized for residents in centers for the elderly and those with functional diversity; population aged 80 and over; health and social health personnel; people between 60 and 79 years old and other risk groups.

Vaccination against Covid and flu of residents and workers has begun in the residential centers by health professionals from the center itself, with the support of staff from the Ministry of Health when necessary.

For their part, people aged 80 or over will be vaccinated against the flu at the health center, coinciding with the administration of the covid vaccine dose.

In this sense, citizens belonging to the risk groups for which vaccination against covid and flu is indicated, can request an appointment from the Gva +Salut APP and from the Conselleria de Sanitat website from the beginning of the campaign. .

Regarding the vaccination of pregnant women, routine pregnancy check-ups will be used to administer the vaccine in health centers.

As for health personnel dependent on the Ministry of Health, they will be vaccinated by occupational risk prevention and/or preventive medicine services. In primary care, the center staff will carry out the vaccination.

Romanian Government Approves Compensation for Adult Vaccines: Flu Vaccine Compensated from September 1, Other Vaccines from December 1

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 10, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

On August 31, the Government of Romania approved a decision regarding vaccines for adults that will benefit from compensation in the country. According to this decision, starting from September 1, the flu vaccine will be compensated, while the other vaccines will be compensated starting from December 1.

This decision was added to Government Decision no. 720/2008, which lists the medicines compensated for those insured under the social health insurance system in Romania, either with personal contribution or without.

This measure follows the proposal of the National Vaccinology Committee to introduce in Romania the vaccination of high-risk groups, with compensation for eight types of vaccines: the flu vaccine, the pneumococcal vaccine, the meningococcal vaccine, the human papilloma virus (HPV) vaccine, the diphtheria vaccine adult acellular tetanus-pertussis (dTPa), hepatitis B vaccine (HBV), measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and varicella vaccine.

Vaccines will be administered according to age and identified risk groups, such as pregnant women, people with chronic diseases, medical personnel and others.

The Government Decision created a new category of compensated drugs, sublist E, which includes immunological drugs used for active immunity and prevention of communicable diseases. This sublist has two sections: E1, which covers vaccines compensated at 50% of the reference price, and E2, which provides 100% compensation.

There are three types of vaccines in the E1 section, such as the inactivated flu vaccine and two types of HPV vaccines. 13 positions are included in the E2 section with 100% compensation, covering various vaccines such as influenza, HPV, pneumococcal, meningococcal, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis, hepatitis B, measles-mumps-rubella and varicella.

The Government Decision will enter into force gradually, starting from September 1, 2023 for the flu vaccine and from December 1, 2023 for the other 7 vaccines. The decision to postpone the compensation of most vaccines was taken for budgetary reasons, and the costs associated with the compensation of vaccines for the year 2023 amount to 116.6 million lei from the budget of the Ministry of Health.

In order to implement this decision, it is necessary to issue an order of the Minister of Health to establish the segments of the population that will benefit from compensation of 100% or 50% of the reference price of vaccines. This order will establish the rules regarding the prescription, issuance and settlement of vaccines for the various categories of the population. The Ministry of Health has already developed a draft order for this purpose, which will regulate these aspects.

According to the project, the population segments that benefit from 50% settlement of the price of vaccines are as follows:

flu vaccination: people aged between 45 and 64 years (inclusive), without chronic diseases.

The following categories are included for 100% compensation:
