Where and when?

If you want to protect yourself from acute respiratory infections, which are increasing throughout the country and filling hospitals, you have a quick and easy opportunity. You just have to go to the Vaccination Point of the old Military Hospital, which is open from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. You do not need to make an appointment, just bring your health card.

In addition, at the three Ingesa health centers you can also get vaccinated, if you are a user of these services. The hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday to Friday.

Because?

The Ministry of Health and Social Services wants to remind you that this year the flu vaccination campaign is carried out together with the COVID-19 campaign, to improve coverage and avoid complications. The flu vaccine is especially important for people who belong to higher risk groups, such as those over 65 years of age, pregnant women, the chronically ill or healthcare professionals.

Chiapas Faces Increase in Respiratory Diseases Due to Cold Fronts: Nurse Urges Importance of Influenza Vaccination

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com January 5, 2024
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Tuxtla Gutiérrez.- With the arrival of cold fronts, Chiapas faces an increase in respiratory diseases, with influenza, including the A-H1N1 and JN1 variants, being one of the main concerns. Samuel Cueto Indilí, nurse at the Tuxtla Gutiérrez Health Secretariat, urges the population to take preventive measures, highlighting the importance of annual vaccination.

In an interview, Cueto Indilí shared that at the vaccination post in the central square of Tuxtla Gutiérrez, 50 to 100 doses are being applied daily until 1:00 p.m. Annual vaccination is free and is essential to protect yourself, your family and those who share the same space at work or at home.

Statewide, more than one and a half million flu vaccines are expected to be administered. Vaccination, although it does not guarantee the absence of the disease, reduces its severity and strengthens the immune system. Cueto Indilí emphasizes that the vaccine is updated annually to adapt to the variants in circulation.

The nurse calls on the population not to self-medicate in case of respiratory symptoms, but to go to the doctor immediately. Furthermore, he highlights that vaccination is especially crucial for older adults and those with comorbidities.

Cueto Indilí reported that, although COVID-19 vaccines are not currently being administered, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) is expected to provide doses in the near future. Meanwhile, the focus remains on protecting the population against common respiratory diseases during the winter season.

The only requirement for vaccination is that the person be in good health. Those with symptoms such as sore throat, body aches, runny nose, high temperature or cold should postpone vaccination to avoid complications.

Cueto Indilí concluded by reiterating the effectiveness of vaccines and emphasizing the importance of prevention, especially in times of sudden temperature changes. The vaccination process will continue until March.

The Importance of Vaccination in Preventing Reemergence of Infectious Diseases

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com December 7, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, said on Thursday, in Timișoara, that in the situation where there is no more vaccine coverage, other contagious infectious diseases, considered eradicated, may reappear, apart from measles.

Minister Rafila pointed out that vaccines have become victims of their own success, as certain contagious diseases have been eradicated through vaccinations over the years, and now the population no longer believes they need to protect themselves against them through immunization.

“Vaccines are victims of their own success. Through vaccination, many of the diseases that I have heard of but have never seen – diphtheria, polio, which I have only seen in people with the sequelae of the infection. All these diseases that apparently have disappeared unite in danger of re-emergence, of reappearance, because with the decrease in vaccination coverage there is also the possibility of the reappearance of these diseases. There are still sporadic cases in various countries, especially from imports, but we must not let our guard down, because in any case would occur in a country, if the population is not vaccinated, it can lead to the spread of the disease. We don’t want that. We have a war on the border, in Ukraine, where there are certainly problems with vaccination coverage and we have to we do it in such a way that the children in Romania are protected”, explained Alexandru Rafila, quoted by Agerpres.

The Minister of Health pointed out that in the case of the measles epidemic, the situation remained unchanged in the two days since the declaration of the epidemic.

“The situation of transmission in many counties of the country of the measles – rubella – mumps epidemic (RRO) arose as a result of the reduction of vaccination coverage at the national level; only 78% for the first dose and 62% for the second dose of the measles vaccine -mumps-rubella (MMR). It is a consequence of the accumulation of a cohort of unvaccinated children, who are not protected. This has also happened in other countries, not only in Romania. These public health measures, also recommended by the World Organization of of Health, I am for reducing the consequences of an epidemic spread of measles, a disease whose goal is to eliminate it as a public health problem, at the global level”, Minister Alexandru Rafila also mentioned.

ANSP Reports Flu Vaccines Running Out as Public Interest Grows, COVID-19 Vaccination Declines

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com December 5, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The National Agency for Public Health (ANSP) says that the flu vaccines procured for this year are running out, showing increased interest among people to protect themselves from the common flu. Vaccination against COVID-19, by contrast, is declining against a backdrop of post-pandemic fatigue.

The ANSP told Free Europe that by December 1, 98 percent of the 200,000 flu vaccine doses available this year had been administered.

Influenza vaccines were administered to people in risk categories, those with chronic diseases of the respiratory system, cardiovascular system and diabetes, people over 65 years old, medical personnel, police officers, pregnant women and children from 6 months must be vaccinated against flu.

As of December 5, only one case of influenza has been recorded. On the other hand, the number of cases of COVID-19 is increasing and vaccination is decreasing.

In the last week, the number of cases of infection with the new coronavirus increased 2.3 times. 508 people were diagnosed with the Sars-Cov-2 virus between November 27 and December 3. In this interval, 2 deaths were also recorded.

So far, 2,268,473 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered. Anticovid vaccination decreased this year, when 18,738 vaccine doses were administered. Around 200 people are vaccinated weekly, according to ANSP data.

Currently, at the ANSP National Vaccine Warehouse there are over 28 thousand doses of Pfizer vaccine for children over 12 years old, over 1,500 doses of Pfizer vaccine for adults and 25,905 doses of Sinovac vaccine. National coverage with the full scheme is 31.5%.

The vaccination plan with Patria fails; is not ready | The universal

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com November 17, 2023

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the director of National Council of Humanities, Sciences and Technologies (Conahcyt), María Elena Álvarez-Buyllathey committed that the Mexican Patria vaccine would begin to be produced starting in September and would even be applied starting last month in the national anti-Covid-19 campaign; However, the biological is not yet ready.

Currently, the Conahcyt It does not have data on the production of the 4 million doses or the effectiveness of the Patria vaccine, despite being in charge of articulating the strategy and the fact that President López Obrador stated on October 25: “We are going to have it this year”to be used in the national vaccination campaign.

In response to a request regarding monthly vaccine production anti-Covid developed by the federal government, Deputy Directorate of Technological DevelopmentLinkage and Innovation of Conahcyt assured that “it does not have the requested information”, which also contradicts what was declared on May 3, 2023 by María Elena Alvarez-Buylladirector of the Council, stating that “from September to December there would be the installed capacity in the country to produce up to 4 million vaccines.”

Conahcyt prepared the response to the query made by THE UNIVERSAL last November 1 and it arrived only on the 13th of this same month, which shows that two and a half months after it should have started producing the vaccine There is still no evidence of the process.

It also does not have the reports final technical of the project, despite the fact that Álvarez-Buylla maintained the opposite on May 3 in the conference press release of President López Obrador.

“It is now ready as reinforcement in all its phases. The results are already available that show that the vaccine meets the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO), both in terms of security and in its protective capacity,” he said. However, the Deputy Directorate of Technological Development, Bonding and Innovation contradicted the official, since when questioned about the effectiveness of Patria to protect against the XBB 1.16 or EG.5.1 variants, she acknowledged that she still does not have the reports final technical of the vaccine.

“This address will have information once the final technical reports of the project corresponding to the development of the Patria vaccine are received,” Conahcyt specified in response to this newspaper’s request for information.

He also confirmed the allegations that question the effectiveness of the Patria vaccine due to the lack of definitive results from its clinical development, as he noted that “the Patria® vaccine project (AVX/COVID-12) against the SARS-CoV-2 virus is currently a booster vaccine, in terms of what is indicated by the Laboratory company Avi-Mex”.

But when consulting the company’s terms on its portal electronicthis points out that the security of the Homeland vaccine “It will continue to be monitored in accordance with the investigation protocol that is still underway for these purposes.”

On April 17, THE UNIVERSAL published the note “Homeland, the vaccine that never arrived”, in which it indicated that the biological would be surpassed by the health emergency declared by the OMSsince it was imminent for the international organization to declare its completionwhich happened on May 5.

The cost of developing the productobtained through a request for information, which from 2020 to April 2023 was 422 million 897 thousand 939 pesos, according to the Conahcyt.

Later, on May 3, Álvarez-Buylla updated the investment to produce the vaccine and assured that 937 million pesos were allocated by the federal government.

Patria, without verifying effectiveness against XBB.1.16 and EG.5.1 “Eris”

The subvariants XBB.1.16 and EG.5.1 “Eris” were the ones that spread the most speed and dominated the cases during the last wave of infections of Covid-19 in Mexico, according to WHO data.

Thus, THE UNIVERSAL consulted Conahcyt about the effectiveness of the Patria vaccine to protect against these virus mutations; However, the agency does not have the Clinical studies that endorse the president’s statements Lopez Obrador and the director Álvarez-Buylla.

In the case of highlights of the coronavirus variant ómicron XBB.1.16, the WHO classified it as fast growing and a new variant of concern, after stating that it surpassed the XBB.1.5 variant, previously the main one in many regions.

On the other hand, on September 26, the platform GISAID (Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data) indicated that EG.5.1 “Eris” is propagated throughout the country, and became the dominant variant of Covid-19.
