UW-Whitewater Reports Third Consecutive Year of Enrollment Growth,โค Eyes 13,000 Student Goal
WHITEWATER, WI – UW-Whitewater has announced a continued surge in student enrollment, marking the third โคconsecutive year of growth for the university. Theโ increase signals a strongโฃ reboundโ andโ aspiring future goals โfor the institution, โwhich isโค aiming for a โฃtotal student body of 13,000 by Fall 2028 and 800 students at itsโ Rockโข County campus, alongside an 82% student retention rate.
The โฃuniversity’s success comes as a โฃwelcome advancement, notably when viewed โagainstโ the backdrop of pre-COVID enrollment figures. Whileโค specific archival data โขwasn’t promptly โavailable, the currentโค growth demonstratesโข a clear upwardโค trajectory.
“We are marking three consecutiveโฃ years ofโข enrollment growth,” Chancellor Coreyโ A. king stated. “This achievement moves us closer to ourโ long-term goal of 13,000 students โby Fall 2028 – โฃa targetโฃ that reflects our continued efforts to growโฃ responsibly and strategically. We see the increase as affirmation that our focus โขon student access and success, careerโ preparation, inclusivity and affordability continuesโ toโฃ resonate with students andโฃ their families.”
The influx ofโ students is bolstering the campus community and reinforcingโ the importance of residential life. According to university โofficials, โขfull residence halls โฃcontribute to student academic success, overall learning, and retention.
“As a residential campus, we know thatโค living in the residence halls enhances students’ academic success, overall learning, and retention,” said UW-Whitewater representative Tumbarello.โฃ “Enrollment growth helps us keep our halls full, which strengthens our community and supports the university’s mission.”
The appeal of UW-Whitewater extends beyond its campus environment. Freshman Jordanโฃ Whitsett, from Schofield, cited the “friendly and supportive community” as a key factor in their decision to attend. This sentiment aligns with national recognition;โฃ the Wall Street Journal has ranked UW-W as having the No. โ1 studentโ experience inโค Wisconsin.
Over 3,000 students chose UW-Whitewater this year, despite competition from the 13โค other UW System universities and numerous other Midwest institutions. University leadership attributesโ this success to the institution’s โcommitment to providing an affordable, high-quality education.
“Our โขgraduates go on to โคmake โmeaningful contributions in the workforce and in their communities,”โ King added.
tumbarello echoed this sentiment, stating, “[Our enrollment increase] โdemonstrates that โขWisconsin and our neighboring states โrecognize UW-whitewater as an academic powerhouseโฆ Having worked on campus for โmany years, it’s rewarding to see the value of our work โand โฃthe excellence of our institution reflected in โthis growth.”
