Jakarta,โฃ Indonesia – Following questioning by โIndonesia’s Corruption โฃEradication โคCommission (KPK)โค on Tuesday, prominent clericโ Ustaz Khalid Zeed Abdullah โขBasalamah alleges heโ was misled by travel agencyโข PT muhibbah โMulia Tourism regarding his โคHajjโข pilgrimage arrangements.Basalamahโ claims he initially intended โto travel via the Hajj Furoda system but was offered aโ purportedly “official” visa through Muhibbah, believing itโ toโ be a legitimateโข special โขquota from the Ministry of Religion.
Basalamah, along with 122 โคother pilgrims from the Uhud Tour, had previously secured arrangements through the Majesty of theโฃ Majesty Travel Service.โข He stated that โMuhibbah’s offer presentedโข the chance to โutilize a specialโฃ visa, described asโ an โofficial quota, leading him to register asโข a โpilgrim with the agency.โค He โขreceived facilities akin toโข a special Hajj, including direct access to VIP โขservices.
The cleric’s statement comes amidst a broader investigation into allegedโค irregularities within the Hajj travel industry. The KPK has been scrutinizing several travel agencies suspected of โexploiting Hajjโ pilgrims and potentially engaging โin corrupt practices. โขBasalamah’sโ testimony could provide crucial insight into the โขoperations of PT Muhibbah โขMulia Tourism and the โextent to which pilgrims were misled regardingโ their Hajj arrangements. He previously missed a scheduled KPK summons, citing prior commitments. โ
Basalamah arrived at the KPKโค Red and White Building at 11:04 WIB on Tuesday, accompanied by four individuals. Heโค was dressed in all-black attire. The KPK has not yet releasedโ an official statement regarding the outcome of the questioning or any potential charges.
