Amid escalating tensions between the US andโ venezuela, a โขUS Senator has revealed that the US โgovernment offered Venezuelan President โNicolรกs maduro the possibility to leave the โcountry. โRepublican Senator markwayne Mullin told CNN that Washington suggested Maduro could relocate to Russia or another nation. โThis disclosure follows a recent phone call between President Donald Trump and Maduro.
The offer of exile comes as the US has increased itsโค military presence in the Caribbean, โขdeploying warships including a large aircraft carrier, ostensibly โto combat drug trafficking. However, Maduro โคsuspects the US intends to overthrow his government. Senator โMullin โขstated that a military intervention is โnot planned, โคclarifying โฃthat Washington’s actions are focusedโ on protecting US โshores.
Trump confirmed the phone conversation with Maduro, โbut offered little detail when questioned by โขreporters aboard Air โForce One. He described the call โas simply “aโค phone call,” declining to comment on reports suggesting โdiscussions about a potential meeting or amnesty for Maduro.
The US has been actively intercepting vessels suspected of drug smuggling in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific as september, claiming to have neutralized over โฃ20 ships and resulting in at least 83 fatalities. โTrump announced plans to expand these efforts to land-based operations against suspected โVenezuelan drug โขtraffickers, stating action would begin “very soon.”
