Controversy Surrounding Rashida Tlaib’s Comments on Israel and Palestine: US House of Representatives Condemnation

Washington DC –

House of Representatives or DPR United States of America (US) condemned Rashida Tlaibthe only hereditary member of the US Congress Palestineregarding his critical comments regarding the war raging between Israel and Hamas in Gaza Strip.

As reported Al JazeeraTuesday (8/11/2023), the majority of members of the US House of Representatives supported a resolution condemning Tlaib, a member of the US House of Representatives from the Democratic Party and representing the state of Michigan for three terms, in a vote held on Tuesday (7/11) evening local time .

A total of 234 voted in favor of censuring Tlaib, with another 188 voting against. There are four Republican members of the US House of Representatives who refused to censure Tlaib. Meanwhile, three members of the US DPR from the Democratic Party and one other member from the Republican Party chose to abstain.

Meanwhile, 22 members of the US House of Representatives from the Democratic Party, who are Tlaib’s party colleagues, joined the majority of members from the Republican Party in supporting the resolution.

The resolution proposed by Republican member of the US House of Representatives, Rich McCormick, who represents Georgia, accused Tlaib of ‘promoting a false narrative about the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023 and calling for the destruction of the state of Israel’.

This censure by the majority of members of the US House of Representatives is a form of punishment for Tlaib, and is one step below expulsion. A similar measure proposed by other Republican members of the US House of Representatives last week failed after the Democratic Party succeeded in blocking it.

Tlaib repeatedly condemned the attack Hamas to Israel on October 7, which reportedly killed 1,400 people. But he also criticized US support for Israel and Israel’s relentless assault on the Gaza Strip, which has reportedly killed more than 10,000 people over the past month.

Ahead of the vote held by the US House of Representatives, Tlaib defended her position by saying she “will not be silenced” and will not allow her words to be distorted.

US House of Representatives Opens Impeachment Inquiry into President Joe Biden: Republican Party Chairman Reveals

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com September 12, 2023

Washington –

The US House of Representatives will open an impeachment inquiry into the US President Joe Biden. This was revealed by the Chairman of the US House of Representatives from the Republican Party, Kevin McCarthy

“I directed our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden,” McCarthy told reporters as reported ReutersTuesday (12/9/2023).

It was reported that many cadres in McCarthy’s party were angry when the DPR, which was then controlled by the Democratic Party, twice impeached Republican President Donald Trump – in 2019 and 2021 – even though he was acquitted twice by the Senate.

Biden, who defeated Trump in the 2020 election, is seeking re-election next year. Republicans, who now control only the House of Representatives, accuse Biden of profiting while he served as vice president from 2009 to 2017 from the overseas business ventures of his son, Hunter Biden. Even so, the Republican Party has not provided strong evidence.

The White House said there was no basis for opening an investigation. Democrats say talk of impeachment in the Republican Party is an attempt to divert public attention from the conviction of Trump, who faces four separate criminal charges.

“U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Adhemo says there’s no “Plan B” for federal debt ceiling payments”

(Reuters) – U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary Adhemo said on Wednesday that the United States does not have a “Plan B” to pay off the federal debt ceiling. The U.S. government will not be able to prioritize payments if the ceiling is not raised, he said, adding that the 14th Amendment on public debt would not solve the challenges facing us.

Adeemo told CNN that talks between the Biden administration and opposition Republicans on raising the limit were “making progress” and “the goal is to reach a deal because a default is unacceptable.”

As for ratings agencies reviewing the U.S. credit rating for a downgrade, he said he hoped that would not happen, but that the dispute over the upper limit was already increasing the cost of U.S. Treasuries.

He told MSNBC that a default would send the stock market down, hurt pensioners’ savings and push up borrowing costs.

The government’s payment system was not designed to allow payment to be deferred, he said.

“We have no Plan B that can pay our creditors, our seniors, our veterans, our citizens,” he said. must be done on time,” he told CNN.

[ワシントン 25日 ロイター] – Negotiations between President Biden and House Speaker McCarthy over raising the U.S. debt ceiling are nearing an agreement, with the difference in views between the two on “discretionary spending” excluding social security and other items amounting to just $70 billion. It was confirmed by multiple sources.

The sources said they expected the deal to be a simple document with a few key figures, rather than a lengthy bill of hundreds of pages. Overall figures for discretionary spending will be hammered out, and sectors such as housing and education will be left to lawmakers to work out the details over the next few months through the normal budgeting process, he said.

Discretionary spending will reach $1.7 trillion in 2022, according to federal statistics. It accounted for 27% of total spending ($6.27 trillion), about half of which was for defense. Some lawmakers have argued that defense spending should not be cut.

The White House declined to comment.
