CARACAS, Venezuela – A major exhibition โฃshowcasing theโ synthesisโฃ of the Arts collection, โขa landmark project โby Carlos Raรบl Villanueva at the Central University of Venezuela (CUC), opened recently in the University Gallery. The exhibition coincides with theโ tenthโค anniversary of the CUC’sโฃ inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
The project, initiated in the โฃlate 1940s and continuing โฃfor nearly a โdecade, brought โtogether an extensive team of โVenezuelanโ and international artists, professionals, and artisans to createโค a uniqueโ architectural and artistic environment onโข the grounds of โthe Haciendaโ Ibarra. The โฃexhibition aims โto reconstruct and disseminate โthe process of creation, projection, and execution of villanueva’s enterprising vision, preserving a vital piece of Venezuela’s cultural heritage.The exhibition seeksโข to createโ a rich documentary corpus and revalue the โฃgraphic and documentary memory associated with the Synthesis ofโ the โArts, currently held by โthe University and โขin private collections. Organizers from theโ rectorate, theโฃ Preservationโ and Progress โCouncil (COPRED),โ and the Directorate of Culture hope to raise awareness of this critically important cultural asset and its lasting impact.
