UK Music Venues pledge to run on 100%โฃ Renewable energy by 2025
LONDON – Aโ coalition of leading UK music venues announced today, October 6, 2025,โฃ a โคcommitment to transition to 100% โrenewable energy sources by โthe end of the โฃyear. The initiative, spearheaded by Music Venueโข Trust (MVT), aims to considerably reduce the environmental impact of the live music sector and establish a lasting future for grassroots venues across the country.
The move comes as theโ live music industry faces increasing scrutiny over its carbon footprint. Venues, often energy-intensive operations,โ contribute substantially to โขgreenhouse gas emissions. This pledge โขaddressesโ growing โขconcernsโ from artists, fans, andโค industry professionals alike, and โpositions the UKโข as a leader in sustainable live music practices. โคMVT reports that over 200 venues have already signed up to the initiative, representing a significant portion of the UKS grassroots music ecosystem.Theโค transitionโ will be supported by aโค new partnership with energy providers specializing in renewable solutions, offering venues โaccess to cost-effective andโ sustainable energy tariffs.
The project will involve a phasedโ approach, beginning with energy audits to assess current consumption and identify areas for improvement.โ Venues will then switch to renewable energy suppliers and implement energy-efficient technologies, such as LEAD โlighting and improved insulation. MVT isโค also exploring options for on-site renewable energy generation, such as solar panels, where feasible. The institution is โactively seekingโ funding and support from โgoverment bodies and private โคinvestors to accelerate โthe transition and ensure its long-term viability.
