Analysis: Dinamo Zagreb’s Recent Form and Missing Gunners – A Step into the Unknown for Both Teams

Zagreb (from our reporter) – Although Viktoria did not manage the weekend duel in Liberec, she is still better off than her opponent on Thursday.

Do you feel that Dinamo has not been in ideal form recently?

We noted that they lost three out of four games in October, plus there were changes in the squad and important departures. In addition, if the elite striker Bruno Petkovič does not play, it is a significant moment that the opponent may have more problems. But we have them too. Durosinmi is a big loss, we have to deal with it. We have other quality strikers.

Pilsen plays Dinamo Zagreb. Contribution from the program PřímákVideo: Sport.cz

Is it a step into the unknown for both teams with regard to the missing gunners?

If you lose your most productive players, it’s a big loss. You have to replace them, find new connections and maybe even a way to play. But working in football is about the fact that everyone can be replaced. Hopefully we can do it as soon as possible.

Will you keep goalkeeper Marián Tvrdoně, who replaced the injured Jindřich Staňek and made a mistake in the weekend’s 0:3 loss in Liberec?

We have been doing it since the beginning of the week, we held him right after the end of the match in Liberec. But we have three goalkeepers and the final verdict on who will catch has not yet been made. (18-year-old Viktor Baier and 26-year-old Dominik Sváček also traveled with Pilsen, editor’s note)

Are you hesitant about other positions in the starting line-up?

I’m not a coach who drastically changes everything after one defeat. I’m not panicking and I don’t want to mess anything up. Certain corrections must occur, but it will not be a revolution.

Can Dinamo compare in terms of strength to Sparta, who you played against recently?

Difficult question. Both teams are excellent, they have European quality. But each has its own play style.

Pilsen’s Success against Kazakh Opponent, Tobol, in Conference League Play-off

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 5, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Pilsen faced another Kazakh opponent, Tobol, in the final play-off of the Conference League. Coach Miroslav Koubek’s men won 2:1 in Kostanay at the end of August and won the home rematch easily 3:0. The Pilsen team lost 1:2 at Sparta in Saturday’s league match and faltered after a record series of 12 competitive wins. The general did not go well even for Astana, who lost 0:2 in Aktobe in the home competition.

“We have respect for our opponent. Kazakh football is experiencing a boom, it is on the rise. The national team is in the game for advancement in the qualification for the Euro. But I believe that we will succeed,” coach Miroslav Koubek told Czech Radio and Deník at Wednesday’s press conference in Astana.

In the past, Astana faced Slavia and Jablonec in the Europa League, and did not lose in any of the four matches. The duel will be played on artificial grass in the Astana Arena, which has a retractable roof.

Rising Star Hranáč: From Loan Spells to Success in Pilsen

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com October 5, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

“This was my goal, which I managed to achieve. You can see that hard work is paying off. But above all, I believed that I would make a name for myself in Pilsen. I was not subject to negative thoughts,” says Hranáč. Although he made his debut in the Viktoria jersey in the spring of 2021, he did not make it into the busy squad. All he had to do was go on loan. Beat yourself up, “win” and try to succeed in Pilsen later.

He spent the fall of 2021 in Liptovský Mikuláš, and the spring of 2022 in Pardubice. And since the summer attempt to return to Viktoria did not work out, he returned to Pardubice, where he worked for the entire past season. Together with the guest from Slavia, Tomáš Vlček, they formed an excellent stopper duo, both of whom contributed significantly to the rescue.

Hranáč, who played in the European Under-21 Championship in June, brought the comfort and form from Pardubice to Pilsen. Coach Miroslav Koubek gave him a chance after the team’s breakneck start to the season, which the 23-year-old fighter made full use of. He hasn’t left the pitch since the duel with Hrad Králové at the end of July.

“I like Pilsen’s path today with the new owners: to systematically develop young players, or send them on loan. It paid off for Pilsen with Hranáč or midfielder Šulec. This path seems logical to me and I support it,” says former national team defender Jan Rajnoch.

Hranáč forms a stopper trio with captain Lukáš Hejda and Liberian Sampson Dweh, who came from the second division Vyškov in the summer. “We communicate in English, but Sampson understands basic instructions in Czech. There is no problem at all. I have to say that I feel much better now than in the first match when I was a bit nervous. I didn’t know what to expect from him. In this direction, everything is improving,” praises Hranáč, who also scored his first goal for Viktoria. After a cross from a free kick, he won with his head in the recent duel with Pardubice.

The youngster, who made a significant contribution to Pilsen’s record 12-game winning streak, will certainly be on the pitch on Thursday in Astana. “After Sparta, it will be another big test for me. If I could play such matches in the league every weekend, it would be great,” says Hranáč.

Pilsen’s match with Astana starts on Thursday at 16:00 Czech time.

He started working on himself more

“Hrany (Hranáč) played in Pardubice the whole of last season. Together with stopper Tomáš Vlček, they did an excellent job. Their typology allowed us to play high. It was important for Hrany that he stopped having problems with his hamstrings, which previously limited him. He got exercises, he started working on himself much more. Suddenly he is healthy and can show his full potential. In Pilsen, he initially stood unnecessarily deep during the passing game. When I went to watch Pilsen’s match against Sparta on Sunday, it was evident that Hrany’s self-confidence is almost at its former level.”

Spartak Trnava Disappointed with Draw Against Dnipro: UEFA Conference League Play-off Review

Spartak Trnava Disappointed with Draw Against Dnipro: UEFA Conference League Play-off Review

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 24, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The players of Spartak Trnava failed to take advantage of a great chance for a good result in the first match of the UEFA Conference League play-off against Ukrainian Dnipro (1:1). Fullback Kristián Koštrna was far from satisfied.

In team Spartak Trnava discontent reigns. There’s nothing to be surprised about, because the players of the Slovak football club on Wednesday evening wasted a great opportunity to build an ideal starting position before next week’s rematch in Košice. Ukrainian Dnipro entered the first game of the Conference League playoffs in a frame of mind that was far from ideal.

Shortly before the match, the club’s management decided to fire almost the entire implementation team led by coach Oleksandr Kučer, and the Dnipro team was led at the Anton Malatinský Stadium by Valerij Horodov, who until then took care of the training of goalkeepers. Trnava received another gift right at the start of the match, when Sarapij was sent off in the 5th minute.

Koštrna: We complicated it ourselves

In the end, the Ukrainian vice-champion played to the end with only two players sent off, as Kohut had to be taken off the pitch in the 89th minute when he saw the second yellow card. However, it was only a 1:1 draw, thanks to which Dnipro-1 can think about advancing to the group stage. Certainly Trnava too.

“It’s hard to beat because we could have gone into the second match with a better result. It could have been 1-0 or 2-0. Unfortunately, we made it complicated for ourselves,” Kristián Koštrna shook his head after the match and visibly disappointed added: “There was a mistake, but that’s football.”

The players of Spartak Trnava drew 1:1 at home with SC Dnipro-1 in the opening match of the play-off of the European Conference League. The visiting team played without the suspended Eduard Sarapij from the 5th minute and without Ihor Kohut in added time. However, the people of Trnava did not use it. Rematch is scheduled for next Thursday (8:00 p.m.) in Košice, where the Ukrainian vice-champion plays home games.

“We must always be calm, reasonable, and everything is still open in the return. Dnipro is playable. We knew his strengths, we prepared for them very well and I think we were able to eliminate them. Of course, the red card helped and we were more on the ball. But we couldn’t convert our chances. We could have gone into the rematch with a better lead. We are not satisfied,” he emphasized.

Ghanaian Kelvin Ofori put Trnava in the lead in the 55th minute, but Oleksandr Pichaľonok had the last word, who converted the penalty from the 67th minute, and Dnipro got it from Spartak on a platter. “‘Štetec’ (Štetina) had the ball on his foot, he gave it to me in the area, which their winger caught, he put it behind the defense, where Sebo Kóša crossed him and a fight ensued. When they were already lying on the ground, as (the Dnipro player) was getting up, he got in the way of (Kóš’s) leg, which in my opinion was a penalty. It could have been handled better, but things like this happen in football. We have to lock in and fight because everything is wide open in the return game.” claims 29-year-old Koštrna.

High expectations after the elimination of Lech Poznan

The defender of Spartak Trnava points out, however, that the Ukrainian SK Dnipro-1 is no worse in terms of quality than the Polish Lech Poznań, whom the “red and blacks” eliminated in the 3rd preliminary round of the Conference League.

“Dnipro is really good. We analyzed them and the coach also warned us that nothing easy awaits us and it won’t be easier than against Lech, which people also thought were just ‘some’ Ukrainians to whom we will give a three-pointer at home. He was a good opponent who is strong on the ball and very good defensively. It also has quite decent breaks. They are really smart guys,” Koštern recognized the qualities of Wednesday’s opponent.

“It was really crowded in the front. We created chances after rebounds, but it was difficult. A lot of people thought that when we beat Lech Poznań, a very good opponent, then Dnipro would come and they would be worse. It was the other way around. I think he was a very good opponent. They were all smaller players, very dynamic and difficult to play against.” he added.

So close, but at the same time so far

Next week’s rematch will be a little different again. Dnipro-1 will not be able to rely on a pair of expelled players, who were joined by the talented midfielder Valentin Rubchinskij. He has already seen his third yellow card and will miss the important match at the Košice Stadium.

Despite this, Spartak got into a difficult situation, as Dnipro will probably start with a new helmsman. There is speculation about the arrival of the young 39-year-old Spaniard Gonzalo Garcia and he can bring something new again. Coach Michal Gašparík also drew attention to this.

A wasted career chance, an albistic approach and a huge gift into the hands of Ukrainian Dnipro. Coach Michal Gašparík was far from satisfied after Wednesday’s match. He also reacted to the words of coach Slovan Bratislava.

Košterna looks at the situation a little differently. “We knew about all the circumstances that happened in their club. They didn’t have time to change anything fundamentally. Shortly before the match, they fired the coach and not much can be changed there, so they played the same as before. Maybe they’ll change something in a week, but I don’t think it should be something significant that they can surprise us with.” believes the native of Hlohovec, although the absence of the carded can work precisely in Trnava’s favor, “certainly yes. We know that their midfielder has received a yellow card, his third, and he will definitely not play. The two with red cards will also be missing so they will have to change it up and that might suit us.”

Just like before Trnava, so also before Dnipro, only one match remains to be played and after that it will be decided who will get the keys to the entrance gate to the group stage of the UEFA Conference League. “We talked about it in the cabin, too, that we are so close. Two matches is practically nothing. We are very close, but at the same time quite far. Really, in Trnava we all dream of it happening, but we have to be reasonable and calm. We can’t go crazy now. We especially need to be calm,” shouts Kristián Koštrna, who also believes that a lot of fans will come to support Trnava in the increasingly modern Košice football arena, where the return match will take place next Thursday.

“The player plays completely differently when the house is full. You can reach your maximum and the player feels completely different on the pitch. I believe that the fans will come to Košice to support us and we will have a quasi-home environment there. It’s a neutral ground and it’s their ground, but I think we’ll have a home environment there.” wishes Košterna.

Slavia Prague Advances to Final Play-off of European League after Draw with Dnipro

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com August 17, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

The footballers of Slavia Prague drew 1:1 with Dnipro in its cup asylum in Košice in the away rematch of the 3rd preliminary round of the European League, and after the initial home victory 3:0, they advanced to the final play-off for participation in the group.

The Ukrainian national team sent Valentyn Rubchynskij into the lead at the end of the first half in the fight between the vice-champions of their countries, but in the 53rd minute Václav Jurečka equalized with his first goal of the season.

By progressing through Dnipro, Slávist got the certainty that they will play at least the group of the European Conference League. In the play-off against another Ukrainian team, Luhansk, they fight for participation in the main stage of the better European League.

Prague will start a doubleheader in a week, just like with Dnipro at home, the return match will be on the agenda in the opponent’s asylum in Lublin, Poland, on August 31.

The Red and Whites will not meet in the cup for the seventh time in a row, under current coach Jindřich Trpišovský they have always played in UEFA competitions in the fall. They last appeared in the main stage of the Europa League in the 2020/21 season.

Trpišovský made two forced changes in the lineup compared to the opening game in Eden. Stopper Ogbu, who was absent due to suspension in the first match, was replaced by Ousou, and Ševčík stepped in instead of the injured Lingro in the midfield.

In the packed Košice arena for almost six thousand spectators, the famous players had an almost home environment. In the cup asylum of Dnipro, which cannot play in its stadium due to the Russian military attack on Ukraine, over a thousand fans pushed the red and white forward.

In the beginning, the people of Prague controlled the progress and in the 23rd minute they had the first big chance. Jurečka, however, missed the goalie Kinarejkin and had to wait for his first goal of the season.

On the opposite side, four minutes later goalkeeper Kolář intervened against Pichaljonek. However, the Slavists were more active, but they did not take the lead even in the 35th minute, when after Ševčík’s tap, Van Buren’s volley attempt was saved by the home goalkeeper.

When it seemed that the red and whites would calmly finish the opening act to a goalless draw, in the first minute, Rubchynskij stretched the set-up from behind the goal and beat Kolar with a shot right at the back post. The Slavists conceded after two matches.

Less than four minutes after the change of sides, Pichaljonok could have made the double match even more dramatic, but Kolář held the guests back. Prague equalized in four minutes.

Jurečka was sent out by a vertical pass, which shot past Kinarejkin. The Spanish referees initially signaled offside, but after the intervention of the video referee, they finally recognized the goal. The top scorer of the last league season scored for the first time in this competitive year.

Zafeiris could turn the situation in favor of the favorite, but his shot against the post in the 62nd minute was deflected by the home goalkeeper. Substitute Douděra then fired a shot on the ground a short distance away. In the end, Hromada, a native of Košice, got on the pitch for the first time in the season and could even take care of a turnover in the set-up, but he ended up a short distance away from the home goal.

In the sixth competitive game of the season, the Slavists did not win for the first time, but it didn’t have to bother them too much. In the third double-header with a Ukrainian opponent in UEFA competitions, they celebrated promotion for the first time.

Rematch of the 3rd preliminary round of the European Football League in Košice:

SC Dnipro-1 – Slavia Prague 1:1 (1:0)

Goals: 45.+1 Rubchynskij – 53. Jurečka. Referee: Gil Manzano – Nevado, Nicolás – Cuadra (video, all Sp.). ŽK: Guculjak, Babenko (both Dnipro). First match: 0:3, Slavia advanced.

Dnipro: Kinarejkin – Pasič, Sarapij, Kravec (73. Svatok), Kaplijenko – Rubchynskij (77. Tanchyk), Babenko – Guculjak, Pichaljonok (73. Lednev), Gorbunov (65. Kivinda) – Filippov (65. Bill). Coach: Kučer.

Dunajská Streda Footballers Prepare for European Conference League and Squad Changes

by Chief editor of world-today-news.com July 12, 2023
written by Chief editor of world-today-news.com

Dunajská Streda footballers will open the new season on Thursday in the European Conference League, where they will face Georgia’s Dila Gori. However, they are already thinking about the league, in which they will present themselves with several changes in the squad compared to last season.

Coach Adrián Guľa perceives the Georgian team as a difficult opponent: “We know that it is a European confrontation with an opponent that has an international team. Information is already available today, but we chose live scouting and got valuable information. We had enough time to analyze and prepare. The decisive thing will be how we handle it on field. We know what to expect. It will be a different confrontation than a year ago, when we had a weaker opponent. We know that we have an unpleasant opponent, but we always want to do our best to advance.”

Captain Zsolt Kalmár had the same opinion about the first preliminary round, who also awaits a difficult double match: “We have a tough match ahead of us, against a strong opponent. We know that it is a team that attacks a lot, it will not be easy to get past them. Five years ago, we also played against the Georgian team, and it was not easy even then. Our goal is to win at home and away advance.”

DAC will enter against the team from Georgia with humility. “There is respect from our side. Football in Georgia is on the rise. The last time their under-21 national team played very well, they have good players in the European leagues. That’s why the respect. In Gori, the coach has been with the team for a long time, they have good ball possession and pressing situations. They have interesting players, not only domestic, but also foreign. It’s only the first preliminary round, but we can already meet a difficult opponent.” Guľa added

THE STAFF HAS UNDERGONE A SIGNIFICANT CHANGE

Adrian Guľa, source: TASR

The yellow-blue squad underwent a significant change before the summer. “I will return in May. After the emotions subsided, we did an internal analysis. The contracts of Andzouan, Gavrič and Blackman expired. We all wanted to extend it, but only Andzouan and Gavrič managed to do it. As for Blackman, this also brings football, we will be stronger even without him. The analysis showed that we need to strengthen in the middle. There was a lack of greater variability and we focused on this position. People perceived that mainly players who worked with coach Guľ in the past came, but we were looking for those who can help immediately .

The transfer window is still open. Many players left in the summer, we still need to add to the squad. We are also satisfied with the young players. Vitális worked well in Győr, Szolgai went from the academy to Šamorín and then to us, and this is a long-term process. I told the team that I expect ten percent more from everyone, including myself. If we succeed, we can achieve our goals. There are goals and dreams, but reality must be perceived. If we add another ten percent, ambitions can come true,” said sports director Jan Van Daele.

MULTIPLE SCENARIOS IN THE CASE OF KRSTOVIČ

Adrian Guľa and Zsolt Kalmár, source: TASR

DAC kept last season’s top scorer Nikola Krstović in the squad. “We signed a long-term contract with Krstović back in March and we set clear ideas. We certainly do not want to sell him at any price. As long as it makes sense and all parties are satisfied, we are open. The reality is that there are clubs that are informed, but nothing concrete. We’ll see what the next few months bring. If he leaves, we have a back-up plan, we have several scenarios ready.” dodal Van Daele.

As many as eight players left the DAC squad. A noticeable loss is the long-standing supports from the defense. After the expiration of the contracts, Dominik Kružliak signed for the Greek Volos, Cesar Blackman will wear the jersey of Slovan Bratislava. Sebastián Nebyla will continue with Croatian NK Istra, and defender Eric Davis is currently without a club. Defender Filip Kaša, midfielder Aleš Čermák and forward Matej Trusa came from Pilsen. Both Kaša and Trusa have extensive experience with the Slovak league. DAC hired Konrad Grusznovský from Wisla in Poland, and young Norbert Urblík came from Győr in Hungary.

“The core of the team stayed together. It can also be seen in training that the players know about themselves and see what they can expect from the other players. Players who know our way have arrived and that is what speeds up the adaptation. I am glad that the team showed progress during the preparation, like the speed of the game, compactness in pressing situations. The two past matches, during which we scored 9 goals, will definitely give us a lot of strength. I’m glad that Matej Trusa fits into the concept, he showed that he can be an asset. Also Filip Kaša, or the young players. For me, it’s important that the core stayed together, that’s what I’ll rely on,” said Guľa.

The players also felt the change in the squad, but according to captain Kalmár, it is not felt in the team’s game. “There were quite a lot of changes, but everyone fit into the team. Also thanks to the fact that they joined a team that works. Every new player will be an asset immediately. Players who are motivated and talented have arrived. It was evident that in the last 2-3 games the game team was ready.”

The Hungarian legionnaire is fully prepared for the new season: “I’m doing well physically and mentally. At the end of the season, I had better and worse matches. But now there’s nothing stopping me from getting back into top form. I’m looking forward to the new season.”

Dunajská Streda squad for the 2023/2024 season:

Goalkeepers: Samuel Petráš, Dániel Veszelinov, Attila Németh, Erik Gyurakovics
