Dallas ICE Shooting: Head Warns Attack “Could Have Been Worse

Deadly Shooting at Dallas ICE Facility‍ Targeted Federal Law Enforcement, Agency Head Says

DALLAS, TX – ⁣ A ⁢shooting at an ⁣Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in dallas on Wednesday morning left one detainee dead and two others‍ critically wounded, ICE officials confirmed. ⁣The agency’s acting director, ⁢Patrick Lyons, described the⁢ incident as a intentional attack on federal law⁢ enforcement, stating the shooter’s actions “could have been worse” given the‍ location ‌and weapon used.

Lyons said a ⁣group of detainees, recently arrested by ICE, were inside⁢ a vehicle ‌at the time of the shooting. The⁤ shooter, identified⁢ as‌ 29-year-old ⁤joshua Jahn, fired ⁤from a nearby rooftop using a “high-powered rifle,”‍ Lyons said, noting the facility is ⁣located near a busy interstate and commercial areas.‌

“He‍ could‌ have, in his indiscriminate fire, hit people traveling to work, ⁤civilians on the ‌ground,” Lyons‍ told CBS News. “It‌ was a vrey scary situation.”

Officials discovered bullet casings at the scene bearing anti-ICE messaging, leading Lyons to believe Jahn specifically targeted ICE personnel. “When you have anti-ICE⁤ rhetoric written on‌ the bullets, you know who they’re targeting,”⁢ he stated.

Lyons indicated preliminary information suggests Jahn acted alone. While ICE had already been operating under a “higher threat posture,”‌ the agency will “reevaluate how‍ we’re doing operations” considering the shooting.

despite the ‍attack, Lyons affirmed that ⁢ICE operations,‌ including ‌the agency’s large-scale deportation efforts directed⁣ by President Trump, would not be slowed. “We won’t be stopped by it,” he said. “We’re gonna ensure that we’re out there taking these public safety threats off the street, but ‌we will have to go ahead and ensure that‍ the men and women of ICE have all the equipment they need, all the protection ‍they need and all⁣ the support they need.”

The FBI is investigating the incident as a targeted attack.Ryan Louis Mosqueda, identified as the shooter, unleashed dozens ⁣of rounds at the agents as they‌ departed the facility. A responding police officer sustained injuries during the exchange. Investigators⁤ subsequently‍ discovered additional weapons, ammunition, and backpacks⁤ within mosqueda’s vehicle. The shooting underscores escalating threats against law enforcement, particularly Immigration⁢ and Customs Enforcement (ICE), prompting calls for ⁣increased security and a halt to attacks on federal officers.

Vice President JD Vance⁣ addressed the incident on X, stating, “The obsessive⁤ attack on law⁤ enforcement, particularly ICE, must ‌stop.” He ‍added, “I’m praying for everyone hurt in this attack and for their families.”

the examination‍ is ongoing, with authorities working to determine Mosqueda’s motives and any potential connections to extremist groups. The ‌incident has heightened concerns ‌about the ‌safety of federal agents operating near the U.S.-Mexico border and prompted ‌renewed debate over ⁢border security measures.

Chicago Protests: Arrests, Chemical Agent Used at Immigration Enforcement Site

by Emma Walker – News Editor September 20, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

Broadview, IL – A congressional candidate was among protesters clashing with federal agents Friday outside an‍ Immigration and Customs Enforcement‍ (ICE) facility‌ near Chicago, ⁣resulting in the use of tear gas and allegations of‍ excessive ‌force. The exhibition stemmed from ongoing ⁢tensions surrounding‌ increased ICE activity in the area and a recent fatal shooting involving an immigration officer.

Candidate Kina Abughazaleh told the Associated Press she⁤ was thrown to the ground and exposed to tear gas ‌while standing with others blocking a driveway to prevent ⁢vehicles from entering the ‍facility. Abughazaleh stated officers ⁤dragged away a ⁢fellow protester before ‌deploying tear gas and pepper balls, causing burning sensations in her ‍eyes and throat.”Protesters were completely peaceful,” she saeid. “we had no weapons, just signs and songs.⁤ We⁣ were afraid and angry.”

ICE ⁣officials countered that protesters were “rioters” who assaulted law enforcement, slashed car tires, and obstructed the facility’s entrance. Video ⁢footage from the evening showed protesters retreating as white smoke⁣ filled the air and officers in ⁣gas masks emerged from‌ a ‌gate.

The confrontation occurred amid heightened scrutiny of ⁢ICE operations in ⁢the Chicago area, fueled by⁢ activists and local leaders seeking⁢ to deter agents and raise⁢ awareness following the death of Silverio Villegas⁣ gonzalez last week.‍ Authorities stated agents were pursuing Gonzalez, who had a history of reckless driving and had entered the country illegally, when he allegedly‌ evaded ⁣arrest and dragged an ⁢officer with his‌ vehicle. The⁤ officer fired, claiming to fear for his life.

Local police⁤ reportedly declined multiple requests for assistance ⁣from federal‌ law enforcement during the protest. The Broadview Police Department has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Illinois lt. Gov.Juliana Stratton criticized the actions‌ as part of a⁢ broader strategy to intimidate communities. “They ‌want us to be afraid,” Stratton said, referencing the Trump administration.”They want us to just kind of go into our⁢ little corners and not do anything. … we’re not going to let that happen.”

Title: ICE Targeting Home Depot Workers in Chicago Immigration Crackdown

by Emma Walker – News Editor September 19, 2025
written by Emma Walker – News Editor

CHICAGO - ‌ Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents ⁢are⁢ reportedly conducting increased enforcement activity at Home ⁣Depot stores across Chicago, prompting concern ⁣from immigrant⁣ rights groups⁢ who say the locations are being targeted despite ‍previous assurances from ICE officials.

Rapid response teams formed by ‍immigrant rights organizations report multiple detentions of undocumented workers at Home Depot⁢ sites ⁤in the last ‌two days. On⁢ the Northwest Side, five people ⁤were arrested by ICE⁤ agents while traveling⁢ to work, advocates said. Video footage⁤ from a‌ Home Depot at ⁢47th and Western appears to show uniformed federal agents conducting ⁣an immigration enforcement mission on Wednesday.

The ⁢increased activity comes as ICE is conducting two separate immigration enforcement⁣ operations ⁢in the ‍Chicago area:‍ “Operation Midway blitz” and “Operation At ⁤large.” While officials stated the goal⁤ of “Operation Midway Blitz” was ‍to target non-citizens‍ with pending criminal charges or ⁢convictions, ICE has acknowledged that ‍anyone found to be‌ undocumented during ‌the operation ⁢is also eligible for deportation.

“Operation at Large,” led by U.S. Customs and⁢ Border‌ Protection commander ‌Gregory Bovino – who ‍previously oversaw immigration ‍crackdowns in Los Angeles – is reportedly⁣ taking ‍a broader approach. Sources indicate ⁤this operation will‌ resemble the Los‍ Angeles effort, with more widespread raids. Bovino’s team has ‌a history of ⁣targeting locations ‌like Home‌ Depot⁢ and car washes.

“ICE has targeted Home Depot corner hiring sites …⁢ where day laborers – our neighbors who build, ⁢paint, fix, and beautify this ‌city – have been the target of these unwarranted attacks,” ⁤said Miguel Avelo Rivera with Latino Union of⁤ Chicago.

Previously, the head of ICE’s deportation branch in the Chicago area told CBS News they would not target Home‍ Depot as part of⁢ “Operation midway‍ Blitz.”

Immigrant advocates are documenting the⁤ activity‍ and⁢ providing support to affected communities. “That details is ⁤shared⁣ with trained rapid response volunteers‍ that than go into the community ⁢and ensure that⁢ we ‌can verify and document the activity that’s going on,” said⁣ Stephanie Alejandro Ortega, with the Northwest Side ‍Rapid response Team.Sandra Puebla, also with‌ the Northwest Side ‍Rapid Response Team, emphasized the importance of community⁣ unity, stating, “Time and ‌time again, we have seen that a united neighborhood is a safe neighborhood.”

ICE Shooting: Father Killed in Illinois, No Criminal Record

Franklin Park shooting: Lawyer Contests ICE Account of Fatal Encounter ⁤with undocumented Father

Franklin Park, IL – An undocumented father fatally shot by an ICE agent ‍in Franklin Park on Friday had ‍no criminal history of violence, according⁤ to his attorney, ‌contradicting⁢ claims made by Homeland Security ‍officials. The shooting occurred after the agent⁣ attempted to arrest the man, identified as Villegas-Gonzalez, and he allegedly‍ resisted, attempting to drive away in his vehicle.

Villegas-Gonzalez, 38, had ⁢just dropped his two sons⁢ at ⁣school before the encounter,‌ his ‍family shared on a GoFundMe‍ page established after his death. While Homeland ‍Security stated Villegas-Gonzalez had a criminal history of reckless driving and entered the U.S. at‌ an unknown‌ date, attorney ⁤Cardenas, who previously ⁢represented him in traffic matters, asserts his client was a law-abiding member of the community. This case reignites debate surrounding ICE tactics and‍ the rights of undocumented individuals ⁣within the U.S. legal system.

According to DHS, the ICE agent‌ fired after Villegas-Gonzalez attempted to drive his car into agents. Cardenas expressed ⁣shock at the account, stating, “It didn’t seem to fit the⁣ person that ⁢I knew.” ⁢He represented Villegas-gonzalez in two prior cases ⁤involving‍ traffic violations ⁤- speeding, ⁣an expired driver’s license, lack ⁤of insurance, and a⁣ missing child restraint seat – both of which were resolved favorably and did not involve criminal violence.

Homeland Security confirmed Villegas-Gonzalez’s history of traffic⁤ offenses, but President Trump‍ has previously characterized anyone in the U.S.illegally as a criminal, a⁣ claim Cardenas vehemently disputes. ⁣”He was undocumented but he was complying with every single law. He ‌was working,” Cardenas said, describing his client as respectful, hardworking, and compliant with court requirements.

The FBI’s Chicago ⁢Field Office has been informed‍ of the situation and is assisting with the examination.⁣ It remains‍ unclear if any body⁤ camera footage of the incident ⁣exists, as not all federal agents are required to wear them.‍ Cardenas is⁤ calling ⁢for a full investigation into the shooting to prevent similar tragedies.

More than 300 Koreans detained by ICE at Georgia Hyundai plant heading home

More than 30 Stateside Korean‍ Workers Detained ⁣by ICE ‍at‍ Georgia ‌Hyundai Plant Are Returning Home

WASHINGTON⁢ – over 30 Korean workers ‌detained last week by⁢ Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at a Hyundai motor manufacturing plant in Bryan County, ⁢georgia, are preparing to return to South Korea, ⁣according to statements released by ⁣both the U.S. State Department and⁤ South ‍Korea’s Foreign Ministry. The detentions sparked diplomatic concern from Seoul, which‍ argued the workers were in the U.S. legally to share specialized technology and contribute to american manufacturing revitalization ‍efforts.

The incident underscores the complexities of international economic partnerships and visa regulations, particularly as the U.S. seeks to bolster domestic manufacturing thru foreign investment. ‍The workers’ detention raised questions about the treatment of skilled⁤ laborers contributing to U.S. economic goals and prompted ‍a request ‍from South Korea for assurances to prevent similar occurrences. The situation⁢ highlights the delicate balance⁣ between ⁤national‌ security concerns and fostering strong international trade‌ relationships.

the ICE⁣ raid occurred while the workers were participating in a training program at the ⁢Hyundai plant,⁤ a⁣ key component of the automaker’s expansion in the U.S.‌ South korea’s Foreign Ministry expressed “deep concern” over the public disclosure of the detentions, stating it had “deeply hurt and shocked all Koreans.”⁢ The ministry’s statement⁤ detailed that ‍the ‌workers had come ‌to the U.S. to “share technology and know-how and contribute to the Trump administration’s efforts to revitalize American manufacturing.”

South⁤ Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul directly ⁤addressed the issue ⁤with U.S. officials, ‍”strongly requesting the ‌U.S. administration’s special attention and support to ensure that these ⁢workers, who are not⁣ criminals, can quickly depart the US without ‌physical restraint, such as handcuffs, and ⁣that they will not face any ⁣disadvantages in future visits to‍ the U.S.” He also proposed the creation of a joint U.S.-South Korean working group to ⁢explore preventative measures, including the‍ potential development of new visa‍ categories tailored to facilitate such technology-sharing programs.

The⁤ State Department confirmed discussions between ⁤Secretary of State⁣ Antony Blinken and Minister Cho, noting they discussed advancing U.S.-South Korean ties “through⁤ a forward-looking agenda” focused on revitalizing American manufacturing through ⁤South Korean investment in ‍sectors like shipbuilding‌ and‌ establishing a ‍”fair and ⁢reciprocal trade partnership.” The State Department did not comment directly on⁢ the ICE⁤ raid itself. ‌

While the exact reasons for the ICE ⁤detentions ⁢remain unclear, South Korean officials have emphasized the workers’ legal status and their role in‌ supporting U.S. economic‌ objectives. The workers ‍are expected to depart the U.S.in the coming days, and the proposed working group is intended to address the underlying issues that led to ⁣the incident and prevent future ‌disruptions⁣ to this vital economic collaboration.
