Austin Honors Veterans with 69th Annual Parade
Austin, TX – Thousands lined the streets of downtown Austin today for the city’s 69th annual Veterans Day Parade, a vibrant display of gratitude for the service and sacrifice of military personnel. The parade featured marching bands, local city departments, and community organizations, drawing cheers from residents of all ages.

senior Master Sgt. Gilbert Rodriquez, a veteran who served from 1967 to 1994, watched the parade with pride. ”It’s very rewarding, and it’s an experience that everybody should experience, and you get to grow and enjoy life and get to meet a lot of new people from all over the world,” he said. His son, James Rodriquez, emphasized the importance of understanding the sacrifices made by service members and their families. “I talk to my family all the time about me growing up as being an Air Force brat,as you will,and so it’s very important for them to understand the sacrifice that not only that my father did,their grandparents did,but also everybody in the world who does this.”
the sentiment of gratitude and patriotism was echoed by attendees like Ommie Pernell, who stated, “It’s about patriotism, and in my opinion, we should all be patriotic. The country gives us a lot, so we should give back something.”
Denise Garza,whose husband is a veteran,expressed her joy at seeing children cheering for the country,calling it “beautiful.” Luciana Bieler, originally from Argentina, shared her appreciation for the United States and her desire to celebrate with veterans.
