Trent Reznor‘sโ Future Ruins festival, a highly anticipated โevent promising a convergence of โfilm and music, has been canceled, organizers announced thursday. The festival,โค slated for 2025, was too feature performances andโ appearances by Reznorโ and Atticus Ross, alongside a lineup including Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh, horror composer John Carpenter, Hildur Guรฐnadรณttir, and Questlove.
Theโ cancellation stems โfrom “a number ofโฃ logistical challenges and complications,” according to aโข statement posted by the festival onโค Twitter. Organizers stated they felt unable to deliver the experience they had envisioned and are issuing full refunds to ticket โholders. “Rather than compromise, we’re choosing to re-thinkโ and re-evaluate,” โthe statement read. “We are sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate all theโฃ interest โand support.”
Future Ruins aimed to showcase a powerful lineupโ across three stages,blending film scores with live musical performances. Reznor and Ross were scheduled to performโ selections from their extensive film and TVโข catalog, including work โฃon Watchmen, โ The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, โ Empire of Light, Waves, Want, and The Killer.
the festival’s planned roster also included โคOscar-winning joker composer Hildur Guรฐnadรณttirโค and Questlove, who intended to perform film scores by Curtis Mayfield. โmothersbaugh, known for hisโฃ work with Devo andโค frequent collaborations withโข director Wes Anderson, โwas also set to appear.
The cancellationโ follows the recent launch of Nineโ Inch Nails’ โค”Peel โฃIt Back” tour-their first live shows since โ2022-which began withโ European dates in June โคand July and continued โฃwith aโค North American leg starting in August. โค
