Competing Narratives: ID’s “Caught in the Lie” vs. Hulu’s “Perfect Wife”
The Hulu docuseries, Perfect Wife, featured interviews with Papini’s then-husband, keith. Michael Beach Nichols, director of Perfect Wife, noted that his team made repeated attempts to include Sherri Papini in their show. She never responded to us,

Papini also claims to have memory gaps regarding her alleged abduction in Redding,California.
The Motive Behind the Lies: Protecting Her Family?
Papini explains that she initially blamed two Hispanic women to avoid revealing her emotional affair with Reyes. She feared that keith would divorce her if he discovered their text conversations, citing a postnuptial agreement that would award Keith all property in the event of a divorce. She also worried that infidelity would cost her custody of their children. Thus, she replaced Reyes with fictional female abductors, maintaining that the abduction itself was real.
