Syracuse Scorches: Record-Breaking Heatwave Sweeps Central New York – Heat Advisory in Effect

Syracuse,NY – June 25,2025 – Syracuse is battling a historic heatwave,shattering decades-old temperature records for the second consecutive day. The National Weather Service reported a peak temperature of 95 degrees at 3:51 p.m. today, with a “feels like” temperature soaring to a dangerous 101 degrees.

Yesterday,on June 24th,the city reached 94 degrees,surpassing the previous record of 93 degrees set in 1952. Monday also saw a record broken, hitting 94 degrees and exceeding the 92-degree record for June 23rd. The heat index climbed to 100 degrees today and peaked at 103 degrees on Monday, posing meaningful health risks.

Heat Advisory & School Impacts

A heat advisory remains in effect for Onondaga County until 8 p.m. tonight. Authorities urge residents to take precautions, stay hydrated, and limit strenuous outdoor activity.
