Forty-Six Trees Felled in Error During Park Redevelopment
[Town/City, State] – A council has discoveredโ 46 trees were mistakenly cut down during the redevelopment of โฃa local park and hospitality precinct. The unexpectedโข loss has prompted a review of site โขmanagement procedures, according to council officials.
The treesโ were felled in addition to those already planned for removal as part of the park’s redevelopment, which aims to improve accessibility with new pathways. Councillor [Cr Vernon’s Last Name] โข stated the council had “endeavoured to โensure as few trees as possible were removed”โข and had “worked hardโฆto refineโ that number down to the leastโ number of trees possible.”
“We knew that there were going to be some tree losses and thay โhad been planned for,” Cr Vernon saeid. “But what’s happened nowโฆhas โnot been something that our council had plannedโ for,nor had we anticipated.”
She described the situation as “a pretty โbig shock, frankly, to myself โand councillors.”
Originally,โข the park plansโ included retaining 277 existing trees, โplanting 43 new trees, and 23,160 plants. In response to the unexpected losses, the council now intends to plant more โฃthan 94 new trees.
Cr vernon confirmed the council is investigating the cause of the error. “We โฃare seeking answers, and unfortunately it will be at the endโ of theโข day, either a failing of individuals or of systems โขand processes,” she said. “Weโ needโค to get to the bottom of that as soon as we can for the sake of ourselves and our community.”
