Hong Kong is strategically developing its tourist destinations to cater to a growing demand for cultural experiences, aiming to boost the local economy.The initiative focuses on enriching existing attractions and creating new, unmissable experiences for travelers.
Key Initiatives and Developments
The Popular Tourist Spot Growth Working Group is spearheading the effort,with several projects slated for completion from late this year into the next. These locations are specifically chosen for their unique Hong Kong characteristics and cultural significance.

- Victoria park Bazaar: The entrance of Victoria Park in Causeway Bay will host approximately 30 booths on weekends and national holidays. These booths will feature cultural services,crafts,and artworks,creating a vibrant art exhibition atmosphere.The project is scheduled to launch this quarter.
- Pink Trumpet Tree Park: Tamar Park’s harbor edge will be adorned with vibrant pink trumpet trees and bougainvillea bushes, complementing the seaside scenery of Central. This floral exhibition is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
- Old Town Central Tour: A collaboration between HKTB and HKwalls will transform Central into an open-air art gallery, showcasing murals by local and international artists. visitors can explore hidden gems and experience local dining starting from the end of this year.
- Kowloon City Tour: Travelers can delve into the cultural heritage of Kowloon City through culinary tours and curated routes based on the “Kowloon Walled City: A Cinematic Journey” exhibition. Additionally, the Tourism Commission will introduce the “City in Time” augmented reality project, allowing visitors to digitally experience historical sites like Kowloon Walled City and Kai Tak Airport through immersive AR recreations.
- Disciplinary Services Pioneer Tour: specialized museums, including the Police Museum, Correctional services Museum, and Fire and Ambulance Services Education Center, are partnering with tour operators to create themed tours about the history of Hong Kong’s emergency services. These new visitor experiences are set to launch this spring.
- Yau Ma Tei Police Station Opening: The historic Yau Ma Tei Police Station, featured in numerous police films, will be transformed into a Police Museum. The ground floor is scheduled to open by the end of 2025, offering visitors a glimpse of reconstructed police station and prison cells, AR photo spots, classic crime film screenings, and souvenir shops.
- “Four Peaks” Tourism: To promote nature tourism, the government will enhance hiking trails on four popular routes: The Peak, Lantau peak, Sharp Island Country Trail, and Tai Mo Shan. Improvements will include better transportation to and from the trails, as well as enhanced directional signs and hiking facts.
- Former Hung Hom Railway Freight Terminal Pier: The pier will be transformed into a dynamic waterfront space, offering a unique location for events with panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island.Travelers can expect to enjoy this space in the first quarter of next year.

He stated that, In addition to creating new popular tourist spots, tourism resources must also be enriched to maximize the value of these spots, including creating attractions that travelers cannot miss.
Cheuk also highlighted the city-wide distribution of these attractions, emphasizing the concept of tourism being accessible everywhere in Hong Kong.
