Lompoc Valley Celebrates History & Community with Open Houses, Raffles & Beautification Awards
LOMPOC, CA – June 25, 2025 – Teh Lompoc Valley is brimming with local events this weekend, offering residents and visitors a chance to connect with the town’s rich history and support its future. From historic home tours to schoolhouse visits and fundraising raffles, there’s something for everyone.
step Back in Time with historic Open Houses
History buffs will delight in the possibility to explore two of Lompoc’s most notable landmarks. The Lompoc Valley Historical Society will host an open house this Saturday,June 28th,promptly following the Lompoc Flower Festival Parade,until 1 p.m. Visitors can view a display of antique quilts and tour the Fabing-McKay-Spanne house, the first two-story wooden residence built in Lompoc in 1875. Admission is free, with donations gratefully accepted. The Historical Society is generally open every fourth Saturday, Mondays and Thursdays from 8:30-11 a.m. (excluding major holidays,August,and december).
Just a short distance away, the historic Artesia Schoolhouse will also open its doors from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Built in 1876, this landmark served as the first county school in the Lompoc Valley until 1961. Today, it showcases a charming collection of artifacts, including old school desks, inkwells, and a miniature dollhouse replica of Artesia. Like the Historical Society, admission is free, with donations encouraged. The Artesia School museum typically opens every fourth Saturday of the month.
Support Lompoc high School Students
The Lompoc High School Alumni Association is currently selling raffle tickets to benefit the LHS College Scholarship Fund. Two drawings will be held on July 18th during the alumni car cruise. Prizes include two ยฝ cords of locally delivered oak wood (tickets $5 each or $20 for a book of five) and a “Braves basket” filled with Lompoc High School memorabilia and two 2025-26 sports season passes (tickets also $5 each or $20 for a book of five). The sports basket drawing will be held on August 1st.
