Austrian Midfielder Joins Slavia Prague After Limited Role in Turkey
slavia Prague has secured the services of Austrian offensive midfielder Ercan Kara, the club announced Saturday, August 30, 2025. Kara arrives from Turkish Süper Lig side Çaykur Rizespor, where he saw minimal playing time this season despite a promising prior campaign.
This transfer bolsters Slavia’s squad depth and provides head coach jindřich Trpišovský with another versatile attacking option. Kara’s arrival signals Slavia’s ambition to compete on multiple fronts this season, both domestically and in European competitions. The move is notably significant given the increasing competitiveness of the Czech First league and the club’s consistent participation in UEFA tournaments. Kara’s integration will be closely watched as Slavia aims to maintain its position as one of the Czech Republic’s leading football clubs.
Kara expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating,”It tells a lot about how much Slavia has in the team’s cadre. Moreover, I am a big fan of Trpišovský’s coach, it is indeed significant for me that I have a coach who wants to help me improve.”
During the 2023-2024 season with Çaykur Rizespor, Kara demonstrated his offensive capabilities, registering five goals and ten assists in 31 league starts. Though, the 24-year-old offensive worldwide featured for only four minutes across three matches in the current season, prompting his departure from the Turkish club.
