Rescue services arriving at the scene described the sight as unprecedented. The two-ton Volvo XC60 was precariously positioned, with its rear end suspended from the barn’s roof structure.
The vehicle was carrying two adults and three children when, for reasons yet to be determined, it accelerated at high speed through a residential area. The car’s trajectory took it through a garden, over two hedges, and directly onto a trampoline where the young boy was playing.
Boy on Trampoline Critically Injured in Unforeseen Crash
The impact with the trampoline propelled the vehicle into the barn, where it became embedded in the roof. The seven-year-old boy on the trampoline suffered severe injuries. A 43-year-old woman, a passenger in the Volvo, also sustained serious injuries. The remaining occupants of the car received minor injuries.
Complex Rescue Operation Required for Vehicle Extraction
Extricating the vehicle from the barn roof necessitated a complex operation involving two large cranes. A spokesperson for the rescue service commented on the unusual nature of the task, stating, “You get a car in the ditch almost every day. But I have never experienced anything like this.”
Police have initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Initial reports indicate that alcohol was not a contributing factor.
