Mel Gibson’s “The Patriot” Airs Tonight on Nova Cinema
Prague, Czech Republic – Mel Gibson returns too the screen tonight as farmer Benjamin Martin in the critically acclaimed ancient drama, “The โฃPatriot,” airing at 20:00 onโฃ Nova Cinema. The film, lauded for its authenticity adn compelling narrative, draws heavily from real historical figures and events of the Americanโข Revolutionary war.
“The Patriot” distinguishes itself by grounding โits story in reality. Screenwriter Robert Rodat, known for “Saving Private Ryan,” intentionally โคbased key characters on actual โpeople. Farmer benjamin Martin is a composite of several real personalities, while the ruthless Colonel William Tavington is directly inspired by Colonel Banaster Tarleton, infamously nicknamed “bloody Ban” and known forโ the Waxhaw Massacre where he ordered the deaths of Continental Army soldiers led by abraham Buford.
Gibson’s portrayal of a man fighting for freedom and revenge echoes his โearlier role as William Wallace in 1995’s “Braveheart.” Theโฃ actor โฃhimself found one scene notably challenging: “I could never hit โคanyone with a Tomahawk – I just don’t even wont to do it – I find it inhuman and cruel, but I canโข imagineโ howโค much he is.”
Viewers can watch “The Patriot” tonight at 20:00 on โNova Cinema.
