Singer-songwriter Todd Snider Dies at 57
Singer-songwriter Todd Snider, known for his storytelling lyricsโฃ and folk-infused Americana music,โค has died, his record label announced Tuesday.โข He was โฃ57 years old. The cause of death was pneumonia, which developedโฃ afterโฃ an attack in Salt Lake City two weeks prior.
Snider, born October 1,โฃ 1966, in Portland, built aโ devotedโ following over a three-decade career, releasing more than twenty albums, including his latest, High, Lonesome and โฃThenโค Some, released this year. Hisโ debut album, Songs for the Daily Planet,โ arrived in 1994. He was celebrated for his ability to blend humor and tenderness in his songwriting, โฃoffering a unique viewpoint on life’s journey.
“It isโ with heavy hearts that we announce that our folk hero, our world poet, storyteller andโฃ beloved todd Daniel Snider has passed โขaway,” a statement from his Aimlessโฃ record label said. “He always โcreated rhymes andโ melodies โคthat instantly reminded us of an old friend or a favorite record. he was someone who almost always managed to findโฃ humor in this crazy journeyโข across planet earth. He expressed so much tendernessโ and sensitivity in his songs and showed many of us how to look at the world โthrough a different โฃlens.”
Snider discovered his passion for music after attending a Jerry Jeff Walker concert. “I couldn’t even play the guitar, butโค after his showโฃ I whent to the store and bought one,” he recalled โขin an โinterview with Lone Star music Magazine. He initially learned to โฃplay the โฃharmonica at school.
Prior to his death, Snider was hospitalized after being attacked outside a hotel in Salt Lake City. His โfamily announced he had developed pneumonia a โfew days later, which ultimately led to his passing.
