Indonesia’s U-23 squad was unable to secure a victory against Malaysia in their final Group A match of the 2025 AFF U-23 Cup,resulting in a goalless draw.The highly anticipated encounter took place at the Bung Karno Main Stadium on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Both teams displayed attacking intent throughout the 90 minutes. Indonesia registered 11 attempts on goal, with three on target, while Malaysia managed 10 shots, one of which was on target. Despite these efforts, neither side managed to break the deadlock, concluding the match with a 0-0 scoreline.
This result saw the Indonesian U-23 national team advance to the semifinals as the winners of Group A, accumulating 7 points. Malaysia,on the other hand,finished third in the group with 4 points and were eliminated from the tournament.
Following the match, Indonesian U-23 captain, Kadek Arel, expressed his disappointment at not being able to deliver a win for the home crowd. “A little disappointed as I couldn’t win against Malaysia today. But continue to support us in the semifinal or final phase later,” Arel stated after the game.
The Indonesian U-23 national team is set to compete in the semifinals against either the winner or runner-up of Group C. Their semifinal clash is scheduled for Friday, July 25.
