Jakarta,โ Indonesia – The price of pure ethanol (E100), intended for use as a 10% fuel mixture (E10) in Indonesia starting in 2027, isโ approximately โคIDR 16,000 per liter, according to Professor โฃRonnyโฃ Purwadi of theโฃ Food Engineeringโ Study Programmeโ at the Bandung Institute โof Technologyโฃ (ITB).
Professor Ronny, speaking in Kuningan, South Jakarta,โฃ clarified that this price refers to anhydrous ethanol – a nearly โpure form โคwiht 99.5% ethanol content and only 0.5% water. He explained that โฃincorporating 10% ethanol into fuel, creating โขE10,would addโค roughly IDR โฃ1,600 โฃto the โcost per liter of gasoline.
“That’s theโ price of ethanol for fuel,โฃ that’s E100 which is anhydrous,” Professor Ronny stated.”Yes, that’s right (10 โขpercent of IDR 16 thousand), โฃthe impact is not tooโ high but if it’sโ a lotโข it can be felt.” He added that the โexact price can fluctuate depending on the raw โmaterial used โฃin production, citing cassava โas an โขexample withโค a similar net โคprice of โaround โขIDR 16,000โ per โliter.
The Indonesian government, under Minister of Energy and Mineralโข Resourcesโ (ESDM)โ Bahlil Lahadalia, is aiming to implement the E10 fuel mandate by โ2027, pending the readiness of domestic ethanolโ production โfacilities. Minister Bahlil emphasized the policy’s importance in reducing Indonesia’s reliance โคon gasoline imports, which โขcurrently totalโ 27 million tons annually.
The government is prioritizing the construction of ethanol plants to support theโค E10 program and achieve greater โenergy independence.
