A woman named Anastasia awoke โขto find her apartment โคhad been burglarized, Latvian police report. theโ incidentโ occurred when aโ man entered through an unlocked door overnight, stealing 2000 euros, 150 euros worth of collectible coins, and personal documents. Police are โcurrently working to โidentify and locate the suspect, utilizing a โคphotograph captured by a neighbor’s security camera.Anastasia believes the targetingโ was likely random. “We also thought that maybe it wasโค intentional,but most likelyโค thisโฃ was a โcoincidence,” โคshe stated,adding she โposted on Facebookโข hoping for the return of her โdocuments. “A man from a neighboring entrance – he has a camera โon the door – he photographed thisโ person. There is a photo, andโฃ everything โขhas already been transferredโ to โtheโฃ police.”
Security footage shows the suspect attempting to openโฃ multiple doors, seemingly checkingโ for โฃunlocked entrances or keys left in the locks. Expertsโค suggest the suspect may have used specialized tools to extract keys if found.In Anastasia’s โฃcase, the door wasโค reportedly not locked.
According to police โstatistics, 968 residential thefts were reported in Latvia last year – โขthe highest โคnumber in the past fourโ years. This year, 332 thefts have been registered in the first six months, a โdecreaseโ of 145 cases compared to the same period inโ 2023.
